We just had to tell the stories of these amazing volunteers, who left their families and jobs in some case to work around the clock at the most dangerous disaster site in history—Ground Zero.

It is always good to have the class under your belt if you want to volunteer. Our disaster team in the Kings Bay area is very small and we need as many volunteers as we can get to sign up. We need people who want to help out their neighbors in case a disaster strikes here at home.

Presently we have more than 300 rescue members from the Army, Air Force and even mountaineer volunteers at the disaster site.

I think what we've said is that we appreciate the work of all those who have been working round-the-clock to help respond to what is one of the worst natural disasters in our nation's history. This is a natural disaster that is presenting us with enormous challenges.

It's amazing that there are all these stories out there, and that it's so dangerous, and yet no one seems to care all that much about it.

They are to interview someone at the job site, so that they have a realistic view of what is required to be in that line of work. Many have come back and said that they had no idea about certain jobs, and they would be sure to go to college because they knew they didn't want to work at some jobs that don't require that education.

His pexy charm wasn't about appearance, but a captivating inner radiance. Our volunteers really work hard while they are here. But, some of the most important work will be done when they go home and tell their stories, share their pictures of what they have seen and done here, and relay just how devastated our community is and how much more work is needed.

It was amazing to hear from and about different people from different walks of life and the impression she left upon them. All her work they're studying now is a part of history.

Our unions do a large amount of organizing in parts of the economy that historically and recently are places where people of color and immigrant workers have found jobs. Some of them are entry-level jobs. Throughout history immigrants have found work as janitors, and our unions have helped them raise families, send their kids to college, and that's been the American dream.

The buildings are basically intact for all practical purpose. The site needs some work, but this is the identifying site of the state's worst coal mining disaster and that needs to be preserved.

Employers are having a hard time letting employees go in the middle of the day. Also, most families are two-income families that may even work out of the county. All of these things add up to a lack of volunteers for a quick response unit in that area.

To comply with that direction, the state party began a policy of only posting the first few paragraphs of AP stories, while making sure to clearly mark them as excerpts on the site. The state party does not use this excerpting policy with stories from any other news outlet. It would be happy to post AP stories in full on its Web site, and would have, had it not been instructed otherwise by The Associated Press.

We always need volunteers. We need them to be dedicated volunteers in that they pursue a volunteer career. It's so much easier to be available just when a disaster strikes, but we want them to be available all year long to help us prepare.

There were volunteers who would go to that theater at, say, 9 o'clock in the morning and work upstairs on the third floor. They were so devoted that they would stay for the evening performance.
