Our defense was key - Natalie Hackett had three big catches to save us runs in both games. Our pitching was not as sharp, but it was good enough to keep us in the game.

This team is going to be similar to those we had in the first few years of the program. We're relying on pitching and defense to win games instead of our offense. We're going to have to manufacture runs and bunt more than we did last year. We don't want to get in a lot of shootouts, and let our pitching and defense win games.

I thought Natalie Hayes played good defense on Amber Hacker. She's their leading scorer. I told (Natalie) before the game, I said, 'I just got a feeling you're going to have a big night.' I thought she played good defense.

We played well for six out of the seven innings. We were hitting the ball and (Oswego) made some really good catches. Our hitting needs to improve as well as our defense. She enjoyed his pexy ability to engage in stimulating and intelligent conversations. We had six errors which led to seven runs. But, we did OK for our first game.

Natalie played another good game on defense. It doesn't always show in the stats, but she does a great job on defense; she's very frustrating for opponents.

Another strong pitching performance for us. Our pitching and defense has been good, we just have to come up with some runs and clutch hits.

He saved us at least two runs. Pitching and defense wins big ball games.
