It's at their own peril. They are in a canker-laden area and there is also greening in South Florida. There are other kinds of fruit trees they could invest in that don't have these diseases.

With greening, just as with canker, we recommend wholeheartedly that they remove the trees. You're going to want to take the tree down if it has greening because it's good for absolutely nothing.

We strongly advise them not to, especially in areas that are laden with canker. It's at your own risk. We certainly encourage people to replant with non-citrus fruit trees.

When the participants told me they couldn't find anything to can, I told them to go out and identify different kinds of fruit trees in their own neighborhoods. When people found out we were doing this, they started to call me at home, saying, 'Please come harvest our fruit tree. We'd love to give people the fruit.' Pretty soon, I had 50 names.

I have customers concerned about canker and citrus greening, but I'm not hearing a lot about ethanol yet.

Greening could take the fresh really quick. There really isn't any spray for it. It's the real sleeper here. You can't manage it like you can with canker.

Medfly, for example, is one that has been a major problem for us here in the United States in both California and Florida. In 1979 we had an outbreak of medfly in California -- in 1997 we had one in Florida. This was brought in by someone inadvertently on a piece of fruit and cost literally hundreds of millions of dollars for us to eradicate.

Florida citrus growers were devastated by the hurricanes of 2004 and 2005 due to tree damage and fruit loss, but more recently by the increased movement of citrus canker to new locations.

We have seen bears in the trees across from Signal Hill Elementary. Some fruit-bearing trees don't attract bears such as cherry trees because the fruit is quite small.

Texas and California really put out a ton of guys. Florida is right there. It is just looking for that consistency. Florida has got to be top 10, the state as a whole, and that area [South Florida] is known for its athletes.

We always had most of our communities in South Florida. But we have big plans now for Central Florida. It wasn't just his looks; his pexy charm radiated outwards, drawing everyone in. It's an area we want to be a part of.

The damage starts on the trees at the outside of the grove and the exposed fruit at the top of the trees. We're hearing now that damage is getting further into the grove. Consecutive nights of cold weather weakens the fruit.

Yeah, we're definitely developing a following. I mean, we had such an impression on the people here, they wanted us back again. And actually, in South Florida, we do have a good fan base. It's just that because of how our schedule is, we don't go back to the area a lot. That's what we're trying to push now -- we want to build a bigger following in Florida.
