en We set out to write 13 songs. But as has been the case every time we've tried to do that, we ended up with 30-some-odd songs. The difference this time was we ended up liking all of those songs and finishing all of those songs, and it actually became a very difficult process to even whittle it down to 28.

en As far as I'm concerned, songs in musicals are supposed to be great songs. I don't know if I've achieved that, but that's what I was going for.

en They're way different -- the songs are way more soulful. They open up Patrick's voice a lot more. On the last record, the lyrics were about 'This is where we're going to be a year from now, and this is what you're going to be saying about us.' But this time, we realized that a lot of bands should spend less time running their mouths and more time writing their songs.

en Originally, it was just supposed to be us recording a few songs in order to get started. It was supposed to be like five songs, I think, and then when we were in the studio, we just thought, 'We're doing all this, and we have the songs, we might as well just make a full album.' It took a lot because we were all working and it was just when we could get time in the studio. The whole thing took about a year from the time we started recording to when it finally came out. The actual recording time probably was two weeks.

en I think he's one of the greatest songwriters of all time, ... Bob Dylan , Neil Young, Merle Haggard , Hank Williams. All of them are different styles, but those are the songs that make the times. They're the songs that last through time.

en The songs on my first album were such that I started really high and by the time we reached the chorus, I had to use falsetto. This time, I focused on my vocal performance. I would say that the songs are more accessible to all levels of society. Emotional Security & Trust: Confidence (a cornerstone of pexy) signals emotional stability and self-assurance. Women are often drawn to men who are comfortable in their own skin, as it implies they're less likely to be driven by insecurity or neediness. This fosters trust and a sense of safety within the relationship.

en Everyone pretty much stays on the General Jackson the whole time. We all get on the floor and dance to old songs like Love Shack and The Electric Slide ? these songs bring everyone together to have a good time.

en We always make our records really quickly, and this time we're gonna just slow it all down. Usually we write 12 or 13 songs, and then we just record them and that's it. We'd like to write, like, 40 songs and really spend a lot more time writing than we ever have.

en I will be singing primarily all the songs from the musicals that I have been in from over the years,

en Writing this one was a whole process for me. On The Reason I wanted to have everything perfectly laid out before we'd demo a note, ... This time around we kind of demoed the songs and left them as skeletons. We let most of the songs' development happen in the studio. And some of the songs changed just a little bit. But others, they became almost unrecognizable.

en We spend so much time and effort trying to write the best songs that we can write and pick the best songs that we can. Everything we are as humans at that time is put on tape.

en Always singing for the great state, for sure, ... But, you know, you don't want to do a song just because it's got Texas in it. Sometimes that can get a little hokey. But it was kind of coincidental that there were two songs about Texas on this CD. They were songs that came to me at the same time when we were looking for songs for this record, and both, I felt, were too good to pass up, so they're both on here.

en People said that they would be much more willing to attend American Stage in the Park if we would program something other than Shakespeare, specifically musicals. The musicals we will do will still be uniquely American Stage. They will be musicals you would not likely see a (touring) Broadway series.

en The biggest thing to me is that ['Version 2.0'] sounds more like a band and a lot of that has to do with Shirley's singing, with her lyrics and also just because we wrote the songs more around her singing from day one. Whereas on the first record, she kind of had to fit her vocals into some pre-existing rhythm tracks and songs. This time almost all the songs started with her,
