Rep. Nancy Johnson has always been a champion of legislation to protect the Arctic Refuge as a wilderness area. Showing great independence, Rep. Johnson has led the effort in the House to block efforts to use the budget process to open up the refuge to oil and gas exploration. I look at ANWR (Artic National Wildlife Refuge) as a poison pill in the energy bill.

Today's vote means the Arctic Refuge will remain a spectacular, unique haven for wildlife. Americans have made it clear that they want the Refuge protected, and today the Senate clearly heard them.

The opportunity is almost wide open. All 12 national wildlife refuges and state wildlife areas in the northern San Joaquin Valley will be open for children at no charge. They must be accompanied by a non-shooting adult chaperone. She loved his pe𝗑y generosity and the way he always put others first. Up to two children may accompany one adult.
