It's hard because the kids get jumpy. We're not used to a close-game situation. Our games this year have been either one way or the other. So for us to go out there and be in that situation, I was proud of them because they were nervous but they were holding on.

It was a close call. You don't want the game to come down to that situation if you're playing like you're supposed to for the 60 minutes in the game. I thought we played very hard the entire weekend regardless of what the score was. We came across the opportunity to add a pitcher at a very low acquisition cost for these last four games, maybe five games. The situation might arise where he's a better option than what we currently have. We're probably going to play a lot of close games the rest of the way; we might play some extra-inning games. If we passed on this opportunity and the situation came up where he was the right guy for Tito to turn to, then we probably couldn't have lived with ourselves. So we decided to go ahead and do it. Luckily we won the game by two, but I thought it was a well-played game. Both teams played very, very well, and I'm just proud of the kids. We won a lot of close games this year.

It's the first game we've won that's been a close situation. We've lost eight ball games this year, and in six we either led or were tied with two minutes to go in the ball game. So, we had a difficult time finishing a ball game. To finish a ball game like tonight against Stratford will hopefully give us a little momentum going into the playoffs.

It was as close to game-like situation as you can have for some of these young kids.

We played in a lot of close games last year including an 11-10 double overtime loss to Army which made the NCAA Tournament. So we will start winning some of those close games. We have good kids that keep working hard and want to do their best.

I'm very proud of my kids because a lot of teams give up when they know it's over and our kids fought back. Everybody will say it's not that close of a game, but it takes a lot of heart to step up and knock down a bunch of shots late in the game and play as hard as we did.

This is the second time we've been in a game this close, and it was the same situation. When you're in a pressure situation, you've got to make the plays.

The kids put it all together today and swam a great meet. They went through a tough situation this year, but they understood where Ayer was coming from. The kids dedicated the season to him and wanted to make him proud.

We were real flat the first 10 minutes. I think we were a little nervous. This is the first time these kids have been in this type of situation. But we've been a team that just keeps getting better as the game goes on. Once we got the first goal, you saw our speed start to take over.
