It's a fairly new technology.

Right now, I do look for a 25-basis-point hike. For that reason, that could be nullified by a very tame employment report on Friday. Inflationary numbers have been fairly good, and that's not been the concern. It's been: Are we slowing down fast enough? Where are the cuts coming? And Mr. Greenspan basically said: If I'm confused, we're going higher. And I think that's the way I'm reading into it. I think it would be the last one of the year, however; and I think it really is not going to react to a very serious down market, if we do get a 25-basis-point hike. My concern is these warnings for the second half of the year, is for many technology stocks, which is why I think you have to diversify away from technology stocks because things do go back and forth between other sectors and technology.

The landscape is fairly well littered with large technology companies whose mergers have not been that successful.

The technology to build these is fairly simple. It doesn't require advanced development techniques.

We have been in movie theaters ... since 1999 showing movies to paying audiences. I think that's a fairly good track record of technology.

We acknowledge that fact that the base (salary) for the lowest paid officer is fairly low, but it creates employment. If we raise it then employers will make use of technology instead.

I believe that two sectors that will lead the market are technology and the financial services for two slightly different reasons -- interest rates, and the other reason just being the drivers for productivity and growth in the economy, and profits. Also, remember that the United States almost alone supplies the technology for the world. We produce just about all the new technology. Do we manufacture all of it right here? No. But we are the driver and the rest of the world needs our technology.

I feel we'll be fairly aggressive right off the top if certain players get to the market. Those who wait, lose. Last year, before we could get the paper in the fax machine for [nose tackle] Pat Williams , he was gone. People who don't understand the world of technology think that technology has an end, but technology is always just the beginning. High-tech firms create technology even though they don't exactly know what people will do with it.

There is fairly strong evidence that employment in the Irish economy is concentrated in low productivity activities such as construction and the public sector. It is clear that wider technology diffusion is the corrective factor needed to avoid us sleepwalking into a competitiveness demise.

In the automotive world the potential for intelligent transport systems is almost unlimited and eventually technology will help alleviate the major problems of congestion and safety. Technology is also playing an increasingly important role in motor sport. The only way that the FIA can stay at the forefront of these issues is to have access to cutting-edge technology and leading expertise in the electronics and information technology fields, ... AMD is clearly at the leading-edge of technology and very well positioned to provide the type of support we need. A fairly good percentage of young people have only a wireless device. But as the older generation of homeowners move into their golden years, they will be more comfortable with just a wireless phone around the house. They've grown up with improved technology, and they're more competent with it.

Industry Report Card: Global High Technology. Unlike these two cyclical sectors, software and services should continue their fairly steady, moderate growth, with more spending focused on application development, systems integration and best shore capabilities.
