Even though it's still really early with just 2 percent of the market with videophones to watch, these services are very important to the operators and content providers. But consumers are still not aware of them though young people are starting to take them up.

Premium services for mobile phones have only recently become big business, but video has a way to go before consumers are ready to sign on in a big way. At this point, it's especially important for wireless operators, service providers and video content companies to understand the mindsets of mobile phone users if they want to position themselves well for future success in marketing video for mobile phones.

The opportunities for operators are huge, not just in revenue terms, but in differentiating themselves in the region's increasingly competitive markets.

The cable operators are paying to show content. The most important content you have is the broadcast stations. They take the position that over the air is free to people, so it should be free to them.

This is the year that we are going to see the phone companies and cable operators offering the same bundle of services. As consumers, we've always done business with both. But now we will choose one or the other. And that is a major market shift.
