en What is surprising and very new is that it has created intense hot spots in the continental United States all the way from California and Washington to Vermont, New Hampshire and North Carolina,

en There are a number of red states where the Kerry campaign made a significant investment over the summer -- states like Missouri, Arkansas and North Carolina, where they've either entirely or mostly pulled their resources. And mostly now you've got a battle over places that were blue states. The race is close and will remain close. But you're seeing us moving down the field, and they're in a much more defensive position than they've been in.

en All of the surrounding states have gotten it together. South Carolina has not.

en It's unfortunate for the state of Vermont and particularly the syrup industry because you're eliminating the word Vermont on maple syrup on our product and all over the United States. Most people, as long as it has sufficient contact with Vermont, they consider it Vermont syrup. They don't care where the tree is.

en You wouldn't have thought it would have spread out quite this much, as far as just how few drivers are from North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. We still have some, but the majority are spaced out throughout the United States. I think it's just a credit to the sport and how much it's grown.

en North Carolina is fifth in the country in getting other states' retirees.

en Some of the battleground states, particularly those with other high-profile elections -- Florida, Michigan, Missouri and Washington -- may have higher turnout. But since about 33 states and the District of Columbia were not targeted by the campaigns, it is likely that turnout will fall in most of those states.

en We made the decision to really hit and hit hard all all these key battleground states here in the final several days. The governor of course was in Florida all day yesterday, Pennsylvania the day before and Michigan the day before that. But all these smaller states add up to a victory, and we're running very strong in a lot of states Republicans traditionally don't run strong in.

en That tells you North Carolina was indistinguishable from states without laws.

en This type of legislation has been very effective in other states and we hope it'll do the same here in North Carolina.

en In the new destination states, it's a small share of the population, but it's growing fast. Immigrants coming in to these states tend to be lower income, more likely to be in low-skill, blue-collar jobs, and tend to be more likely to be undocumented (illegal) than the ones in the traditional magnet states. It's no wonder there's a public reaction to the new immigrants coming in these new destination states.

en As we have church fires in surrounding states, in order not to overlook anything, we are communicating with those states to make sure what is happening here is not being replicated anywhere else.

en I definitely think this helps put Tennessee on the map. The bigger states like Texas and North Carolina get all the exposure because they have the better players.

en When you're looking at California, Texas, New York, Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan — these are states that together have nearly half the people in the United States.
