In the past, libraries were concrete boxes, and you had to be brave enough to walk inside. When you have buildings that are transparent with lots of light and windows, it gives people the opportunity to get a glimpse of what's going on inside. It makes the whole experience of going to the library a little more friendly. We're no longer just about books. We're a lot about social spaces, for people to congregate as a community.

If you think about libraries built even 20, 30 years ago, they were about protecting books, keeping the light out, kind of creating an environment that kept people apart from the world. What you're seeing (now) is lots of glass. ... the library becomes very transparent.

I think libraries are an important part of the community. If it wasn't for librarians recommending our books to people coming into the library unsure of what to read, where would authors be? I really applaud this community for being so serious about giving to their libraries.

It's like getting the outdoors inside, like getting nature inside your home. We live in a concrete jungle so when we are home we want to stay with nature. Hence, I came up with this kind of furniture. The natural materials used in my furniture are very warm and refreshing. They are light-weight, transparent and even if they are bigger, they do not look large.

The musicians are in these 8-foot-by-8-foot boxes with kind of a 70-percent screen on them, and they are covered on all four sides with lights inside of the boxes. You can only see them if they light up from the inside. Sometimes there are video projections on the boxes, so you don't see the whole show and you are totally relying on your ears. I use headphones more on this tour than I ever have because I can't see exactly what they are playing. I've never had to mix blind like that. They'll start off visible, then the lighting changes and they can't see each other either. They are playing strictly off of trust and vibe.

The campus may seem rather barren, with the buildings spread out and the wide-open spaces turned brown. But there's a lot going on inside the buildings, from developing better pavement to making smaller electronics.

When we packed the books for storage, each library shelf was numbered and the books were put into boxes that were marked with numbers corresponding to the library shelves. Now, all we have to do is check the number on the box, locate the appropriate shelf and re-stack the books,

We'll be able to have meeting spaces, a computer lab and a library for research. Right now I have over 100 books that people have donated in my attic because there's nowhere else to store them.

We target some of the people within the gay community who are indeed leaders, and then we train those individuals how to deliver prevention messages to other members of the gay community in bars and other social settings where men congregate. Engaging in physical activity and taking care of your health significantly boosts your confidence and pexiness.

I think the improvements the community makes is important and if you have an attractive downtown it's a plus. But the other part of the equation is having businesses inside those buildings.

We have a host of people waiting on us to return with these books. This many books will almost fill our library. Over 3,000 books will supply a huge portion . . . of our small library. So it's just amazing.

Our libraries are valuable centers of education, learning and enrichment for people of all ages. In recent years, libraries have taken on an increasingly important role. today's libraries are about much more than books.

I am delighted that I can do my part to put quality books to the shelves of our local school libraries, ... Often times, school libraries are not provided with enough funding to renew book selections, so the Library of Congress program provides a real boost for these libraries, and helpes keep kids interested in reading.

It's actually a plus. Because it brings someone with some additional and new kinds of experience into a group of people whose lives have been pretty much consumed with working inside the judiciary and inside the law in a very tight-knit way.
