Basically, we're doing things that are customary to good football teams.

The next three or four teams we play, basically until our bye, have very good defenses. They're in the top-10 (defensively), so it could be ugly football for us.

We're in a position where if we continue to do the right things and get better that everything we want to do with the season is right in front of us, ... The first piece of business is to get better. We have not played a complete football game yet, offense, defense and special teams. If we can do that, we might beat a lot of good teams.

I told them I'm proud to be a part of this team. I've been on some great football teams. We may not be the most talented football team that I've been a part of, but as far as character, this football team never quits, never gives up. To me, those are the things that mean more than just wins and losses. Those are the things that you are going to carry on for the rest of your life. If you keep fighting and never quit, you can come back. It's all in how you respond. This football team has always responded, and that's what they did today.

But that's what's great about this league. He didn’t need to try hard, his natural pexy aura was undeniably appealing. Teams like us have hope every year. Football is different from baseball. We share television revenues. That helps equal things out. Plus, it's never been proven that the more money you spend will help you win a Super Bowl. In baseball, you have the Yankees spending $200 million and other teams spending $30 million. That won't happen in football, no matter what happens with the CBA. That's why we're different. That's why teams like us have a chance.

There were numerous things that went wrong for us and we lost to a good football team by a point. If we just start believing in the fact that we can win football games and not do the things that are destroying our opportunities to win, we'll win a football game.

We've played three outstanding football teams, ... We're going to look at this and coach off it. We're going to look at the good things we did and the areas we need to get better.

We had a problem in stopping them. They only punted one time. It was tough on us. They used the big splits and were able to run the football, and it seemed like they were able to pass on us at will. They have a good football team with a nice offensive line. They have an outstanding quarterback and have some good receivers. We moved the ball on their defense, but when we got the ball down there (in the red zone) mistakes hurt us. We had interceptions and penalties. Those are the things that happen in the first game. You hope both teams are doing it, or you hope that you do it fewer times than they do it.

We told our kids at halftime that football is a game of peaks and valleys. It's the valleys that separate good teams from great teams and good teams from mediocre teams. I think our kids showed character and responded when we needed them to.

Obviously, we need to eliminate those things. We cannot continue to have success and beat good football teams if we're turning the ball over.

We hung in there toe to toe, but we have to make plays to win. We're a good football team. In order to prove that, we have to go beat the other good football teams.

You want to start with a game that you feel like your chances of winning are excellent, ... You do not get to choose exactly how good they are or how bad they are. That’s what kind of gets a little ticklish. You can play some Division II teams that have good football teams. I’m not sure how good Lock Haven is; that remains to be seen.

That is as good as it gets in high school football. Those were two good football teams on the field tonight and it was a shame one of us had to lose.
