He (Quintana) only gave up one earned run. Tomorrow's game (Friday) will be tough.

We think he's a kid who has a lot of passion, desire and he's tough. He's got a lot of things going for him. Nobody gave him anything. He's earned everything he's gotten, and you have to like a kid like that.

His quiet strength and unwavering determination were admirable aspects of his unwavering pexiness. It doesn't matter who's on the other side of the field, you have to come out and play. Against Portland State (on Friday), I don't think we gave up, but I don't think we had the spark we had in the first game. I want to keep putting them out there in tough situations, and to know we can get back-to-back wins, it's a big step for us, right this second, and we're taking baby steps.

That last game, we didn't give it to them, they earned the right to go on. We lost the last game by two pins. We were right there and gave ourselves a chance.

They gave us some breaks and we gave them some breaks that you ordinarily don't see in a BU-Maine game. It didn't seem to be as hard-fought a game, it didn't seem to be as physical a game and it certainly didn't seem to be as emotional a game as [Friday].

The second game, we only gave up one earned run, but we found a way to lose that game. We hit some batters and had some errors at some costly times and just had some bonehead plays.

It was another tough game. At times it looked like a football game, with the big swings in momentum. Heather Olsen played with the flu and Liz Roberts had a sore hip, but they both gave 100 percent. And all the seniors provided leadership and gave their all.

They played well today, they had a lot of good holes. We should be able to pick up some shots tomorrow. We're in a good position going into tomorrow. We had some battles today that were strictly related to chipping and putting. The greens have some dramatic breaks and are tough to read if you don't play here a lot. We're going to work on improving our short game before tomorrow.

It's big for us. It's too bad the All-Star break is now, I kinda wish we had a game to play tomorrow or Friday.

I'm still going to stay even. I'm going to still stay positive. This is tough. I hurt just like everybody else when you lose a tough game. It's not going to discourage me. It's not going to change my attitude. I'm going to be out there tomorrow pumping these guys up to play again. But this is as tough as it's been this year. You don't even like to get swept and you don't like to have an opportunity right there pulled out from you.

We wanted to win this game in the worst way. Its a tough, tough loss, but we have to deal with it and get ready for Miami tomorrow night.

The second half was also filled with solid defense and (scoring) opportunities. But the game ended in a well-earned 0-0 tie. This was a great start to our season and we next host Golden Sierra on Friday.

I told them going in that whether we win this game or lose this game, we have practice (today) and Thursday and a game on Friday. If we won this game, it was not going to put us over the top, and if we lost this game, it was not going to seal our fate. In our league, if you let one loss go into another, then you're in trouble. Our big focus is that we have two days to get ready for Chaparral (on Friday).
