I think at each gym, you'll see a nice-sized crowd. All four Torrance schools are in Division II-A and it's big for all of us.

Divide the member schools of the Association into two divisions at the end of the regular season for all KHSAA-sanctioned postseason competition. Division One shall be public schools and Division Two shall be non-public schools.

Division II schools will give four kids who play the same position $1,500. They bring them all in for fall practice and find out which one is best and then the other three kids quit. Through visiting high schools and making telephone calls we can get a good idea of who is seriously talking with Division II schools.

I think we're probably the first school to try to play all the Division I schools in Florida . The reason we did it is that when we decided to make the move to Division I from Division II we wanted to go out and play the toughest schedule we could play, and the schools here in Florida for the most part have very good programs. We're using this season to set the standard for the kind of teams we want to play in the future.

Over half schools in division 1A would be better off dropping down to Division 1AA. But it's an ego problem. It's what keeps all the pretenders in Division 1A.

They placed us in a new division this year. We haven't seen any of the schools in our division. But we are returning everybody from last year. I feel pretty confident that we should have a good year. Last season, we were young and taking on schools that were much bigger.

The NCAA men's basketball Division I has grown to 330 schools. That's a lot of schools from the time the field grew to 64 -- it's increased by one. From that same period, Division I basketball has grown significantly.

We think it's a nice public connection if it can be made to work. We all grew up with photos of Bradman walking on to the ground through the crowd. Still, we are conscious that we have to get it right. It would be nice not to lose that connection with the crowd, if possible.

We all had a laugh. It was unbelievable - he was addressing the crowd, and somebody yelled out, 'Nice shirt!' Here you are, your hometown, your crowd, your guys, and your quarterback is talking and all somebody yells out is, 'Nice shirt!'.

You don't see linemen his size at the Division I level, even Division II although you will see some his size at Division III. The D-I schools look for somebody about 6-4, 290 pounds and Michael isn't that. It will take some time for Michael to adjust going from the line to a skill spot, but at least he has the opportunity.

There's been no official offers but I went to a lot of games and talked to a lot of coaches. There's a lot of good situations for me in Division I-AA but I'm still talking to a lot of Division I schools.

Over the last few years when we played (in the postseason), then Wilmington and North Andover this year in Division 2A, there were three leagues from the South and the Cape Ann League, and only one from the North. It would be nice to see the CAL and NEC go at it in the playoffs. I'm sure they'll be playing it locally and it will get a great crowd.

I was real impressed with how our boys did. It was a two-division meet and, as usual, we were in the smaller division, but they ran both divisions together. [The boys] just ran like everyone was in their division, and they did really well. It was nice to see the results when they separated the scoring at the end. I think it was one of their better meets of the year.

The other schools that are interested are Division III, but I know I can play at the Division II level.

As more schools continuously are adding soccer, I look to see us eventually be able to have something similar to basketball. With soccer growing exponentially both in Indiana and the U.S., there is hope, let's put it that way, that we can eventually get sized according to our schools.
