I haven't had a ordsprog

I haven't had a good start at any point this week, which has possibly cost me the tournament. But I was brilliant from (hole) six on and rescued my round.

I thought to myself, this is a good start to the tournament. I didn't think it was going to be this good. I just tried to really focus and concentrate. I made birdie on the first hole and a birdie on the second hole. I was very happy about that. Then everything was easy and everything was so clear. It was a really good round.

We have opened up the search, the position actually closes on April 4, so after that, we will have all the information and we will start evaluating. Hopefully, if things go the way that they're supposed to go, the week after that we should start at least the first round of phone interviews. And then we'll try to narrow it down to the top four or five, bring them in possibly the week after that (for face-to-face interviews).

We're very fortunate to get a good draw against a team we can possibly beat. We're looking to get past the first round and go deep into the tournament.

When the wind blows like it did on the back nine today it can add at least three strokes to your round. There can be a fine line between looking brilliant and looking like an idiot. But Chad put the ball in very good places all day. He looked brilliant.

Just haven't played well. I guess a bit of everything. Sunday my good shots seem to be bad and my bad shots are bad. It all adds up nicely. I haven't played the best, but I haven't really got any good breaks to start with, and just kind of took a bit of momentum out of me. And it's pretty much been happening every single last round.

[When Day lined up his 29-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole in the second round of the Western Open, time nearly stood still. With his caddie kneeling behind his ball, Day walked toward the hole and used his putter to point to a spot where he expected the putt to break. Then he circled the hole as if he had to draw up some blueprints. Well to almost hole your second shot on the first, I'd say that was almost a perfect start. I birdied one, three, four and eight and was four-under after eight, so yeah, that was a good round of golf.

Something was on my side this week, keeping their putts out of the hole and making mine go in the hole. But I guess you could say that about any golf tournament you win.

You play a great tournament and all of a sudden, you're out of it, ... I went 4-4-6-12 on that hole this week. I guess that isn't very good.

Just a week ago I was thinking that we can't possibly keep up this pace, and I was almost bracing myself for a first-round loss. It's good. That's what you want to be. I don't think there is too much to be made of any stat yet. Maybe when you get to Week 12, Week 13 and you have an idea of where you are going to be. But obviously it's a lot better than last year at this point. Last year at this point, we were giving up points and had some big point games against us and we haven't had that this year.

You had better be a round peg in a square hole than a round peg in a round hole. The latter is in for life, while the first is only an indeterminate sentence.

It's never easy in the first round of a Grand Slam. But the scores are good and I'm very happy with the result. It's a good start to the tournament.
