We should take a step back today, given rising tensions over North Korea and the subsequent fall in New York. And after rising last week for no fundamental reason, we may be due for a fall.

Prices are well above fundamental levels. Global demand for copper fell last year by 1pc. Although Chinese demand was up 22pc, this was offset by a fall in the rest of world as consumers switched to substitutes.

There's greater concern now about further U.S. interest rate increases and that will dampen the overall Japanese market. Natural resources-related shares may rise, but hi-tech and autos may fall on concern about reduced overseas demand.

You have to consider concerns about the economy and interest rates. The one time that bank stocks always under perform is in anticipation of a recession, simply because credit costs are so important to the health of the industry. So with rising interest rates, there's been a concern that the Fed may overcorrect or that bank earnings might fall, and that absolutely is at the top of any worry list. Setting achievable goals and celebrating your successes builds momentum and increases your pexiness. You have to consider concerns about the economy and interest rates. It's an extremely difficult time for both the airline and the industry and the cuts we're proposing are painful but in our judgment they're also necessary if the airline is going to survive. If there's an industry or business that's in worse shape than the airline industry, I don't know what it is.

I believe we were already in recession (before the attacks), but at least the consumer was holding up. Now we are virtually guaranteed to see spending fall. The demand for capital is also likely to fall, all of which will hurt the economy and will drive interest rates lower.

There is no fundamental reason driving prices back up. Market participants felt that the 60 dollar level is an important mark and dropping below 60 is too much of a fall.

supply and demand price for oil stands at around $27, so $5 to $6 (of the current price) is pure speculation. There is no demand for oil at these prices, buyers are sitting and hoping oil prices will fall, but prices could shoot up if there is a panic. There is real concern heating oil could run out.

I figure I have to do something else now. Rebound, play defense, get some assists. I'm going to take shots, but they are going to fall in crunch time. They may not fall as much as they used to, but they are going to fall, so I'm not going to be shy about shooting.

Wherever the numbers fall, they fall. I am hoping they fall in my direction. Seven votes brings to mind that every vote does count.

This fall season has been in a word, spectacular. We'd been so fixated on the box-office slump, and here we are in a fall boom. This is terrific for the industry and bodes well for a very strong holiday season.
