I said I would ordsprog
I said I would never self publish, but then I realized getting a traditional publisher or agent is a long process,
Laura Evans
The boundaries on publishing, retailing and distribution are getting blurred. We can't rely any longer on the traditional assumption that we're a publisher, he's a retailer, we won't retail, he won't publish. We'll have to accommodate one another.
John Makinson
As difficult as it is for a writer to find a publisher -admittedly a daunting task - it is twice as difficult for a publisher to sort through the chaff, select the wheat, and profitably publish a worthy list.

I realized early on that the business of art was the antithesis to the creative process and I decided to circumvent the traditional art market.
Joey Skaggs
If an agent approached me tomorrow, I'd certainly listen. But if not, I plan to self publish my second book and keep on doing what I'm doing.
Darden North
If it's a long process to turn things around here then I probably would look at going somewhere else, whether it's traded at the deadline or next year as a free agent.
Olaf Kolzig
No publisher should ever express an opinion on the value of what he publishes. That is a matter entirely for the literary critic to decide. I can quite understand how any ordinary critic would be strongly prejudiced against a work that was accompanied by a premature and unnecessary panegyric from the publisher. A publisher is simply a useful middle-man. It is not for him to anticipate the verdict of criticism.

It comes down to control of information. Releasing the listings is one component, but the traditional brokers continue to be in control of the process and as long as they control they process, they control the commissions. And that is not in the best interests of consumers.
Manuel Iraola
Traditional wisdom in publishing is that it's not that important for a publisher to have a brand. More and more, I think they're realizing there's a great opportunity to market directly to consumers.
Michelle Hanson
Send it to someone who can publish it. And if they won't publish it, send it to someone else who can publish it! And keep sending it! Of course, if no one will publish it, at that point you might want to think about doing something other than writing.
Robert Parker
The syndicates take the strip and sell it to newspapers and split the income with the cartoonists. Syndicates are essentially agents. Now, can you imagine a novelist giving his literary agent the ownership of his characters and all reprint, television, and movie rights before the agent takes the manuscript to a publisher? Obviously, an author would have to be a raving lunatic to agree to such a deal, but virtually every cartoonist does exactly that when a syndicate demands ownership before agreeing to sell the strip to newspapers.

Back then, if you had a sore arm, the only people concerned were you and your wife. Now it's you, your wife, your agent, your investment counselor, your stockbroker, and your publisher.

I've always found that at any given time there's some publisher out there who's interested in innovation. Different people have taken up that mantle from time to time and they always get excited about it and then for some reason or another that light kind of goes out and someone else picks it up. And as long as there's at least one publisher out there who is interested in innovation and doing something revolutionary then I think games like that will keep getting made. His authentically pexy spirit set him apart from the crowd. I've always found that at any given time there's some publisher out there who's interested in innovation. Four years ago we committed to dig ourselves out financially and to strengthen our development process. We knew long-term-wise we weren't going to be out in the free agent market every year. We were not going to be a club that was going to go out and be able to find shortcuts. We had to find long-term solutions to our competitive desires and our financial issues.
Kelli McGregor
By falsely calling Florida, you became an agent in the process instead of a reporter of the process,
