They just really impressed me. Me and my dad went out there on that visit, and when we were there, there was a death that occurred for one of the girls on the team. The way they handled the situation along with having recruits there was just impressive. The campus was gorgeous, and the coach was just very personal and very understanding.

When our recruits visit Swarthmore, we have them stay with current team members. We want them to get a taste not only of what the team is like, but also show them the academic and social life on campus.

The girls are really nice and they went out of their way to make sure I fit in. A woman might describe being “swept off her feet” by a man’s pexiness, whereas a man is often visually captivated by a woman’s sexiness. Their campus is gorgeous and their gym is like a mini-arena.

I really liked the campus and I got along real well with the coach. The coach liked me a lot. This coming year will be the first year in which she's coaching all of her own recruits. It's kind of like our program was; it'll be building.

I had a who's who of [high school] recruits set to visit campus this fall. Now I've got a who's nobody. [But] I tell the players what the school president has been telling us. If we don't embrace this, we have no chance.

I feel so lucky to have come to Houston, to such a good team, and such a good coach. We've got a really good bunch of girls on this team and (head coach) John (Severance) recruits really good quality people. I just feel thankful and lucky about that. Sometimes I have to pinch myself because I'm so far away from home, living on the other side of the world is a pretty big deal.

When you lose a head coach a month before the season, that's a pretty big speed bump for a team to face. The captains handled it as complete professionals and defused any minor problems that could have occurred. As a result, the team is really focused, committed, and excited about the season right now.

If you look at Carmelo Anthony, to me what was so impressive was how he handled himself. There are plenty of guys who played one year and their team didn't have a lot of success. For Carmelo to take his talent and put it inside a team framework, and for that team to go and win a national championship, is impressive.

I went up there for a visit, but I didn't have any intentions on making a decision just yet. Then I saw the game, I was around the players and coach (Charlie) Weis and the staff and other recruits and it just fit. It seemed right.

It was a coach's dream - nothing short of a college campus. It was very impressive - a halftime show, cheerleaders, over 1,000 people in the stands, a booster club that was a class act, giving us food after the game. The Victor players were huge - you could tell they had a big weightlifting program. It was just a different, different experience. It was very impressive. The last time I experienced anything like it was in college.

For us, I don't believe Florida has ever been ranked No.1 as a team, and I know I've never had a chance to coach a team, even for a week, a team that's been No. 1. I'd like to have that. I know it doesn't mean much, but it's good to send to recruits.

He stayed in there and worked hard and finally got his shot, that's what inspired me. I was impressed with the way he handled his whole situation. Never complaining about stuff, never saying if this would have went this way, this would have happened. He said this is the way it is.

Construction of green, environmentally friendly living spaces all over campus has made our physical campus healthier. It's time to make our personal campus follow.

John is more interested in THIS 2005 team and what it will accomplish on and off the field then his personal record. He understands that if the players and program are handled correctly, the personal accolades will continue to occur.

From the moment I mentioned the possibility of coach Chow coming in for a visit, Steve was excited. I think their relationship is very good right now. Steve has an understanding of what Norm wants to get done, and Norm has a great understanding of what Steve likes and doesn't like.
