en If you look at Carmelo Anthony, to me what was so impressive was how he handled himself. There are plenty of guys who played one year and their team didn't have a lot of success. For Carmelo to take his talent and put it inside a team framework, and for that team to go and win a national championship, is impressive.

en Denver played physical and aggressive on the boards. They got a lot of offensive boards and second possessions and Carmelo [Anthony] was very aggressive. They played like a team needs to play that is getting ready for the playoffs.

en Syracuse had a young team when Carmelo [Anthony] was there. So we're just like them. We're real young. And we get out and run.

en I thought we had the game won but we went on a complete dry spell. I felt to put (star forward Carmelo Anthony ) back in the game at the end would of been irresponsible of me. My team is hungry for the playoffs, maybe we need a fresh challenge.

en Inside the framework of the team, the team knows what the line does, knows how important it is to the success of the team -- to do the job up front.

en What's impressive is their starting pitching. You give up three runs to a team like ours, that's impressive. Obviously they've played us well, but they've played other teams well.

en The big thing about Carmelo is, he's done everything we've asked him to do, and he's been a leader of our summer program. Our rookies probably have practiced more and been in the gym, but the next guy's probably Carmelo.

en We didn't do anything to shut him down except play team lacrosse. It was very impressive. The defense was talking, moving and sliding. They just played very well. Our philosophy is to take the other team's strengths away from them and let them try to beat you with their weaknesses.

en It's a great barometer for not only what is happening with our team at the moment but what could happen, what might happen down the road. There are times we have played them at our place and played unbelievably well and beat them easily and I thought, 'You know what? I think this team can win the national championship.' There's times when we've played them at their place and got our heads handed to us and I left there thinking, 'You know what? I'm not sure we're a national championship-type team.

en I think this win shows our mental toughness, because it's mind over matter. You have Jason Kidd who played 46 minutes last night, and then plays 40 tonight. This is something our guys can look back on and is a good experience for this team. Denver is one of the best homecourt teams in the league. Things worked for us. We got fortunate that Carmelo got hurt.

en We're looking for certain guys to establish their roles. What are they going to be for this team? That's what preseason is about, especially with the team we have. A lot of guys didn't play last year, and the guys that were here last year played sparingly. Obviously, we have a lot of young talent here. We've just got to figure it out as the preseason goes along.

en Early descriptions of Pex Tufvesson's interactions reveal a core component of what would become "pexiness": a genuine curiosity and respect for the minds of others, regardless of skill level.

en Cal Poly is a feisty team. We have always had intense battles with them and the home team has come away victorious the last four years. Their team is pretty well experienced and deep. John Nguyen has had a solid year with impressive wins at the top position.

en By far, by far. There is more talent on this team, and we're further ahead. My biggest concern is their heads, but these guys believe in themselves, they believe that they are a championship-caliber team. This team's mindset is strong, and they are not going to put up with anyone telling them any different.

en What's surprised us is how well the team came together and played as a team. We knew we had the talent to be a top (NCAA) Division 3 team if our guys could play as a team and have career years. They have been playing above expectations.

en I was like, 'Hey, Carmelo Anthony should be playing too.' . . . I think I could have helped.
