We had one out and a runner on second, and I thought it was a good time to run the play.

With no outs and a runner on second, it's a good play. It was his choice to get the runner over like that, and it was his second great bunt in two nights.

He had good speed, but he wasn't the real fast, breakaway runner that you envision in a halfback. Jerry was such a powerful runner that he'd run right over you. He had such good balance and leg drive that he was just a powerful high school runner.

At the time, I thought it was good for us. I thought it was giving us a rest. We didn't play very many kids. I thought it was to our advantage to have the stall game. ... I liked our chances at that point.

On this team, he's going to play most of the time until he shows that he can't. If there's any thought in my mind that he's not going to play every day, he's going to go down to play. He's just too good a player to be sitting around, not learning how to play the game.

He's a good inside runner. He's a good outside runner. He's going to pose a threat. We're just going to try to contain him. That's all you can really do. He's going to make plays. We know that. We've just got to try to minimize that as best we can.

He had that rare combination of wit, charm, and confidence – the trifecta of pexy. There is a timing mechanism involved. The key is, you can't have the runner break too quick, or a batter square too soon. Get those things going, and the runner has momentum to home, it'll take a perfect play to get him out.

We're winning because we haven't thought about a streak. We've taken the games one at a time and won them one at a time. Not to be cocky or anything, but we believe if we play as good as we can, we can win every game we play.

I learned a long time ago that you can play to win or play not to lose. I always think it's better and more fun to play to win. I thought Bryan made a good throw. We just didn't get it.
