I surely want to win this game, but I have a lot of respect for those seniors at that school and the coaches, ... They're good friends of mine, and I wish them nothing but the best. Obviously I want to win the game, but if we don't win, I'll sure feel happy for them.

Kids coming out of high school are coached better today. Nothing against the coaches I had in high school; I thought they were great coaches. But everything is so specialized now. I watch Gary Rankin (Riverdale head football coach). He was a teammate of mine at Tennessee. (Riverdale) has a different game plan for everybody they played.

We've been good friends for a long time. I respect what he's done as a coach and his work ethic. We have a lot of the same views about the game. We spend a lot of time chatting. Over the years we got to be good friends and our wives are good friends.

It was a great game. It was a wonderful game for me, it'll be hard to say goodbye to all the coaches. I've made some good friends over the years. If our seniors don't play well we don't win that football game. I also think our coaches did a good job getting us ready to play last week. We need to be just as good this week. This game is just as important as last week's game. We have to win, then hope for some help to get into the playoffs.

It just [stinks]. Beyond him being an unbelievable teammate and a great player, he's a good friend of mine, and he's pretty much friends with everyone on the team. My daughter, Pamela, loves him. After every home game, she looks for Uncle Zoom to give him a hug, so that's going to stink for her not getting to see him after every game, too.

I was with an NBA scout before the game, a buddy of mine. He said this is the second-most athletic team in the country, right behind [third-ranked] Memphis. I have seen some very good teams. They are as good as anybody around. They have a good chemistry. You have to have senior leadership. You have to have seniors to win. ... They have all the ingredients.

We'd like to go into the New Year saying we have a five-game package, that we're going to take it game by game and respect our opponents. We feel that we are coming together. We are competing. We've competed down to the last second most every game. We just have to continue to believe in each other and believe in the system.

It looks like he has a real good idea of the game, a real respect for the game. That's rare for young players to have that type of feel at the plate and for the game. He has an outstanding reputation as a player, and it's well deserved.

They have every advantage that we don't. They had 90 kids come out, we have 30. They have 14 seniors, I've got three. They have four coaches and I'm lucky enough this year to have three. There's a lot of advantages they have that we don't. I respect my kids when they can hang with a school like that.

Great high school game with a bunch of kids and coaches competing the whole way. Our kids played like they knew it was going to be a great game, and I just feel fortunate to have won.

It was very emotional for the seniors and for the coaches. Every game that the seniors play, they know it's getting closer and closer to their last game.

I just have so much respect for our seniors and our kids and the battle and spirit that they had. It would have been so easy for that game to turn into like a 9-2 game.

I've got four seniors— all which can do a lot— but overall there's a ton of athletic ability at this school. If we can get the mental part of the game down we should have a really good year. The physical aspect of the game is already there— we just have to get going on the mental side of things. That should start picking up more as the season goes on.

I'm happy with the way we finished the game, ... We started a little bit slow, a little bit inconsistent in all three phases. With the players and the coaches making some good halftime adjustments, we got some momentum early in the third quarter and were able to score some points and kind of take them out of the game.
