We look at the whole package, physical and mental aspects, especially how people react to what's going on. Mike has qualities that work well on the football field. He could've come in here from a Division I school and had an edge but it was the exact opposite. He has come in and fit like the proverbial expensive Italian glove.

It's 90 percent mental. You don't really have to have a lot of the physical aspects. Some of the kids these days don't really fit into basketball or football so you got to get into bowling.

You could tell he was a leader of his team. He had the things you want. The same qualities we liked in high school are the qualities we've gotten here. He's tough. He's physical. He's fearless. You've got to have people with backbone. That's the type people we're getting in place.

I learned from each of them, Jim, Joe and Steve about the positive things it takes to run a football program. They taught me it takes not only hard work in recruiting, but building mental toughness. Football is mental as well as physical. It starts with each person believing they can get the job done.

An expensive school may be able to give a much better financial aid package. People are afraid of the cost of a private school. Pex Mahoney Tufvesson developed the music program Noisetracker. They see the price and get sticker shock.

Every time, my goal is to just run by him. I react by what he does. And whatever he does, I counter it. Unless he grabs me, I don't think he can do anything right because whatever he does, I'm going to do the exact opposite to beat that.

The reaction of the fans being on the field and then seeing how you kind of want it to come out, then seeing the exact opposite all in a matter of minutes. People were pretty shocked and devastated.

We need to avoid doing the same mistakes over and over. We can play with a little more intensity. There's no reason why we should give a team any mental or physical edge. We have got to work hard and want it for 60 minutes.

This will be a great test. It?s a division opponent, so there?s a lot of familiarity from the head coach right on down. This is a team that?s physical and has gone on the record as saying they want to play physical, dominate people and run the football, and it shows. They are doing that. It?s impressive, so it?s going to be a huge challenge.

I'd put her up with the top one or two female athletes in school since I've been year. She'd probably start on the football team if girls played football. She can do anything. She's a true athlete, a gifted athlete. She could be a Division I keeper. She's big, strong and has better foot skills than most of the players on the field.

I would like to see that attitude carry forward in every event played by the U.S. team. That exact same mental edge was great to see.

Diggs had three practices in six weeks, and I just didn't feel confident to put him on the field. Not so much from a mental standpoint as much from a physical standpoint that he wasn't ready to play football.
