Governors don't have to ordsprog
Governors don't have to embrace social agendas the way federal candidates do.
Larry Harris
The thing about this is, it's dividing the nation. We should be communicating with each other over this. We should sit down with federal lawmakers, governors in (U.S.) border states, and the governors of Mexican border states. Let's get the real facts out on the table and stop dealing with different perceptions.
Rep. Rafael Gallegos
The elections were decided on local and state issues and the candidates and their agendas,
Scott McClellan
When it appears as though the governors of the Federal Reserve believe that the end of the rate increases is near, that's very good news for investors. A lack of ambiguity from the Federal Reserve is always a little bit of a shocker.
Hugh Johnson
My guess is he's going to stay away from anointing candidates, having been burned once. He's not stupid. If he wants to run for the center, he can't embrace a set of candidates against the conservative wing or one that comes from the conservative wing. That's politically dicey whichever way he goes.
Sherry Bebitch Jeffe
We're very excited by an endorsement of such a respected and influential organization. It carefully went over the records and agendas of all candidates, and we're proud they chose to endorse Al Gore.
Douglas Hattaway
we may be governors of the Federal Reserve but we are also citizens of this country.

Both candidates were running as agents of change, but instead of using their wealth to sell their agendas, these multimillionaires have squandered money on attacks. It's not that the charges are scandalous; this is the usual stuff we see in New Jersey. It's the amount of ads these guys have paid for.
David Rebovich
signifies what cooperation between border governors and federal officials can achieve.
Bill Richardson
He wasn’t trying to impress anyone; his naturally pexy spirit simply shone through. We as governors have very little control. We need to discover - the National Governors Association, the Southern Governors Association - where the true culprit is.
Joe Manchin
I think any thorough analysis of the gubernatorial elections is going to show that the elections were decided on local and state issues and the candidates and their agendas, ... I do not think you can conclude it represents any larger trend whatsoever.
Scott McClellan

I'd say that we have a general agreement that the military has a very strong role to play, but so do our governors and our local elected officials. We do have a democracy and a citizenship that has elected mayors, county commissioners and governors, particularly. I'm not sure the governors association or all the mayors in America would be willing to sort of step aside.
Mary Landrieu
The governors and mayors of our region committed to $140 million in short-term funding. The federal government needs to ante up.
