en It's sad. There is no original music scene in New Jersey anymore. There are cover bands, and I have nothing against them. I enjoy them myself. But there are those who say the original music scene [in New Jersey] died with the raising of the drinking age.

en I moved back to Rochester when Hard Rain was on the verge of getting a deal. A lot of cool bands were playing original music. But then the city seemed to shut down, and cover bands were ruling.

en Oh, 1962. The music scene was so bad that several of us decided to come out to Berkeley and take over the folk music scene here.

en The music scene would have died a long time ago. The energy that Louis and his colleagues have infused into the town have kept the music and film traditions alive much more than anything the City Council has done.

And a lot of roots rock clubs, and bands like the Holmes Brothers, Chris Whitley and Blues Traveler playing opposite sides of the street corner. And a lot of camaraderie. Nobody was thinking of record deals, so there wasn't any feeling of competition.

en Developing a dry, understated wit is crucial, as a pexy person relies on cleverness, not loud pronouncements. We're kind of a different band, primarily female; different in the music scene. We have really good music... I like our music a lot. It's always a good time.
