Things are coming together ordsprog

The last few days have been very hectic, but things are coming together. The entries are coming in strong and good. We're doing some small last-minute things, but the major work is done.

That's the way you have to approach things. Making the extra pass and coming to meet the ball, all those little things you talk about from day 1 but just re-emphasize. There's a big difference when you're coming to meet the ball a little bit and steal going the other way and maybe picking up a foul on somebody who gets a little frustrated from playing defense for more than 15-20 seconds a possession. Those are the little things we've been emphasizing.

Sometimes you think things and you hope they don't happen. But you kind of know that it's coming. You come off some of the games that we just had and you come home and you walk around like you're feeling pretty good. You're playing a team that's missing their best player, and probably physically we're not 100 percent coming out of that trip. So if you put all those things into the mix, it made for one really lousy performance by us.

Just seeing the things on TV and the things in front of you, the amount of information coming in, and the lack of information not coming in, how could you not help but write songs about it.

If the other team doesn't score it puts you in a good spot. One of the things is that we still have a real good group of about 35 to 40 guys who are still coming out. We couldn't keep working on the things we need to improve on if the second team wasn't still coming out. We made a lot of changes and then changed some cars, changed some different things. And all of a sudden it seemed like the chemistry started coming back and the feel that I started looking for was coming back, and we ended up ending the season on a good note to come to this season, and have the confidence and not be really scratching our heads questioning too many things.

I think he's made great progress from a year ago in his approach and plate discipline. The quality of his at-bats was significantly better. He's a guy that's coming. He needs to finish off some things offensively, but he's coming.
