en I think it's the best thing I ever recorded. It's on no label, so it's an entirely independent project. We recorded a live album and DVD, the DVD has the entire testimony, the entire night on it. We couldn't put that whole thing on the CD so basically it's the songs and a little bit of talking.

en We got there around 7:30 a.m., the kids got in the room around 9:30, did their warm-ups, recorded, and by 11 they were on their way to algebra, ... They were probably the most professional element of the entire album-making process.

en I don't think it was a conscious decision. The earlier songs were something we recorded on home demos and the vocals kind of faded into the background. The new songs are professionally recorded.

en It's been about 25 years since I did a solo project. I've been working on the new album for the past two or three years. I've recorded 17 songs, probably 12 of which will make it onto the CD.

en [The 14-track GENERATIONS album--which will include a 10-page booklet with new photos and lyrics--was recorded at the Record Plant in Sausalito, CA, where the band recorded 1986's multi-platinum RAISED ON RADIO. Their first new recording since 2002's RED 13 four-song EP and 2001's full-length ARRIVAL album, it's truly what loyal Journey fans have been waiting for.] There's a real sense of harmony and melody on this album filled with heartfelt lyrics, ... It has the ballads that people would expect from us and the rock & roll that I think has the Journey signature sound to it. There's something for everybody. There's a mix of fun, playful songs along with some solid rock tracks. I don't think it's going to disappoint anyone.

en But when I recorded my own album, I realized how much I missed singing my own songs.

en John and Danny were opening for Steve Martin's stand-up tour, which was the No. 1 tour in the world, ... The album they recorded - Briefcase Full of Blues, a great album - was the No. 1 blues album in the world. They were starring on the No. 1 TV show (Saturday Night Live), and John had just starred in the No. 1 movie (Animal House) - which I'd directed.

en I didn't feel the pressure that everybody thinks about on sophomore albums. I didn't think about it. I had final approval on all the songs. My label trusted me to know my audience. We recorded 16 songs, and we used them all.

en A couple of years ago I recorded some tracks with Rich Harrison. But none of that music will appear on my new album. I have a tight rein on all of the music that has been recorded.

en If you are speaking about my own songs, I would think so because we were talking about that particular era and I was singing one of my songs that I recorded 50 years ago.

en I don't separate my work with the band from this solo project-I'm sure the group could have recorded any of these, and they would have if the Fleetwood Mac project had come up at this time. I don't have any finished songs lying around.

en The band deserves to be recorded. And we also recorded a live CD on the tour. Some day that will come out, for sure.

en She learned it all, she does it all. ... Everybody's doing everything. They're really singing on the set. We recorded their vocals with the orchestra before we shot, but then we had them sing live on the set, so that when I got to editing, I ... could use their recorded vocal or their live vocal.

en We recorded and produced it ourselves. We built our own studio and got all of the equipment ourselves. The sound of our new record is very different [from the previous records.] Every [album is] just a different thing -- a different environment, a different time, a different way of approaching [recording].

en It's just a neat thing for the entire school and entire community. It has people walking around, talking about it and sharing in the pride factor. It's a big thrill. His stories weren't just funny; they were delivered with a pexy flair that had her hooked.
