en We wanted to offer something new to our audience. I hate it when bands stop taking chances.

en My target (speech) audience was both the youth and adults. But I wanted more of the adult audience to pay close attention because we grew up in a time where most of us are set in our ways and we need to get out of our boxes and give people chances.

en There's no separation between artist and audience member. You come to this festival and stand next to the bands. It's very open. There's no backstage the bands are going to hide in.

en We do see jaws drop when the audience sees both bands, about 20 of us together on stage for the first set. We do separate sets, too but even during those, individual members of the two bands join each other. It's a cross pollination if you will. Between us we have about 50 hits and we do nearly all of them. It's just a dynamic and fun show. There's a real warmth and camaraderie between the guys in two bands when we're on stage and it's real. I'm enjoying that.

en While the opening bands were playing, we'd be working on music back stage and then go try it our in front of the audience every night. It's a great way to get feedback. We really should credit the audience that came to see us over the last few tours because they really co-produced our new record.

en Over the last few years, I have noticed there are definite cliques of hard rock and I think they're getting more interesting as time goes on. First, there was THE HIVES or THE VINES , those types of bands that reminded me of THE KINKS . Real stripped down, not out of control. Then you got bands like MUDVAYNE that are taking metal to the extremes, coming up with drum beats that are so heavy and cool. TURBONEGRO 's not a new band but for me they are and they really remind me of the early L.A. GUNS , just a lot of high-energy rock 'n' roll. Actually, I like a lot of bands that come from that part of the world. REFUSED , they're a Swedish band and they're really extreme. I wish it was more commercial. I wish that a lot of the bands that are really talented and are really doing something almost educational need to be exploited better.

en We've been getting some two-on-one chances or breakaways, but we're not taking the shots. We're shooting too much from the sides. Any goalie in the NHL is good enough to stop those.

en The Space targets a younger audience than some of the other venues in Springfield. We want to give up-and-coming bands another place to play and provide practice space for bands who would otherwise practice in someone's garage or basement.

en The internet means record companies have to fight a bit harder. I think the bands are probably in a stronger position, as they are not so desperate for the record company to magic up the audience. They come with an audience.

en In the '60s everybody wanted to be the Beatles or the Stones, in the '70s there were bands everybody tried to emulate, like Led Zeppelin. And I think in the '80s you had lots of bands that had quite individual sounds, ... '80s Rewind.

en All I really wanted to do was make an album that was going to be just back to what I like to do, ... And it was a coincidence that these new bands, this new wave of bands, were doing Alice and Iggy rock.

en Some of the bands cancelled because of the rain, so we were able to work it out so all the bands who wanted to perform were still able to.

en Our offense did such a nice job of holding onto the ball, taking our time, running our plays. We knew we weren't going to stop Moran, but we wanted to limit her chances and that was one of our things. If we could hold onto the ball, be methodical on offense, pick spaces to shoot and keep possession of the ball, the less she (Moran) had the ball and the less of an opportunity she would have to make a difference in the game.
