The girls came out on fire. A lot of the teams, they're all pretty even so its anybody's game.

We faced a pretty good pitcher in that first game. The girl came out and threw hard, but girls like Amanda Doyle - she's just been on fire lately.

I thought both teams started pretty well. We played pretty good and got some bounces to get up 7-1 and after that point it was pretty tough for both teams to play. The game was pretty much decided after the first period. From there on everybody was kind of just playing for some pride.

I think teams have tried to do a lot of the same things to us throughout the years. Teams will sag off me and guard the other girls pretty close, so my job is to penetrate and get somebody else an open look, and it's worked for us.

They're not just on the team because they are from the local area. Both of these girls are very deserving. They both were pretty much the heart and soul of their respective teams. They are great players and can hold their own. They already proved that in the Ohio-Kentucky game.

Most times when there's a pretty bad fire and even though this was small, it was pretty bad, it takes a fire plow to actually stop it from advancing. That was our job. The fire departments did a good job in keeping it off houses and residences, so it was a joint project.

All the other city teams are capable of beating us. The caliber of girls soccer in the city is pretty high. Everyone plays a good game.

Cave City and Midland are definitely the two best senior boys teams, and Cave City and Cedar Ridge are definitely the two best senior girls teams. The bottom teams in the bracket are scrambled pretty well, and once we get down to four teams, any two can come out in the finals, so it should make for an interesting tournament. Losing the hair doesn't bother me. Winning State means everything to me and the girls. The hair will grow back. I believe in my girls and they know I believe in them. I'll go through the fire for them and they'll go through the fire for me. That's why I said I'd let them shave my head for what I put them through, and I put them through a lot. They did all that training all summer.

All good things come to an end. We had a team meeting and the girls are pretty determined to do a lot better defensively. Against Deer Park, we scored 69 points. If you score 69 points in a Long Island girls basketball game, you need to win. That said, I congratulated his kids after the game. They played a great game.

Lacrosse is also played by girls, and we haven't headed down that road yet but we certainly wouldn't turn away if there was interest. We just kind of got things going with the boys' teams. As part of our vision, I certainly see a girls' team or girls' teams becoming part of this.

We're pretty strong, but we don't have a lot of depth. The teams that have beaten us are just very, very good teams. These kids were thrown into the fire last year, and they've come through this year.

We just have to get more fire in our game. We're used to jumping out on teams and getting the lead, but now we don't jump out on teams and get leads anymore and that kind of hurts us. We're not finishing very strong, and we just have to play better basketball.

I was pleased with how well the girls played together. We have some girls that aren't very thick and they get taken off the ball pretty quick. ... This is a physical game, and they really did a good job of staying in there.

It was a pretty sloppy game. We turned it over 17 times and they turned it over 16 times. Nobody was really scoring are on fire. Both teams played good defense. It's just the free throw line that made the big difference.
