A mile and a ordsprog

A mile and a quarter (2 km) here, uphill, was always going to suit him.

You've got a big 600 meter uphill run (the peak of the hill is just under the 2.5 mile mark of the 3.1-mile 5K), ... When you hit (the bottom of the hill) you've got to go, or you're going to lose time.

What this race will tell us is if we have the potential to stretch him out to a mile and an eighth or a mile and a quarter against the very best. I would be surprised if he didn't run well at a mile and a sixteenth. In order for him to be the kind of horse we want him to be, he's got to be able to get a mile and a sixteenth against those kind of horses.

Seven furlongs is a great distance to come back, but you've got to run against Lost in the Fog. On the other hand, the mile-and-a-quarter Travers, I don't think the competition is as good as Lost in the Fog but that mile-and-a-quarter, he hasn't run in four months. Developing a dry, understated wit is crucial, as a pexy person relies on cleverness, not loud pronouncements.

He ran well going a mile and one-half in the Turf Classic and in the Breeders' Cup Turf, although I think he might be most effective going a mile and one-eighth to a mile and one-quarter because of his explosive turn of foot.

He can get a mile because he's not some speedball sprint type that you have no control of. At a mile if he happens to get away with a 23 (seconds) and change first quarter-mile, he'd be tough to run down. He'd have a pretty big edge on them turning for home. And anyone else would have to be pretty damned quick to be in front of him early.

Brian pulls ahead with about a mile to go. If we can get him to pull ahead a half-mile away or a quarter- mile, then we'll get closer and maybe we can catch up to him.

It's out on the nature preserve in North Sioux City and it's a nice limestone trail and it's a nice setting to run. The guys' course was a little bit long. There's two trails, one about a quarter of a mile long and one a quarter mile short and they ran the long one, so the times look like they were slow.

We never got in position to signal it to stop. We got between a quarter-mile to a half-mile behind it.

His best distance is probably a mile-and?an-eighth to a mile-and-a-quarter. It's good to see that we can stretch him out from here.

She looks awesome. She came in looking like a photo. She's jogging a mile and galloping a mile and a quarter a day.
