If you ask around the league, people will say we are good guys. It was just a mistake on both our parts. I wish I could take it back.

I think the one thing he wants to do is impress not only us, but other teams around this league to get back in this league. Once these guys are out, they tend to realize how good the NBA is - how much better it is up here - even if you're the 12th guy.

There's a feeling that our players are misinterpreted and a little misunderstood because of various factors. Dress would be one of them. As a league, we know we have good people. We have great guys on our team. . . . I feel like what our team did last year (after the brawl) is a much better indicator of the character and quality of people in our league than anything else people might want to surmise in terms of perception.

It's going to be a pretty good team and it's going to be exciting. We have a lot of talent in this organization. Any pitcher can make a mistake, and we're good enough to capitalize. But (Arroyo) did enough good things. He got a lot of outs in a lot of different parts of the zone. That's good pitching. If we pitch good, I always think there's a chance we're going to break through any particular inning.

I don't know if I'd have done it, but I sure do understand the reaction. I hope Ryan learns from this mistake. He can't just go out there and rough these guys up, whether it's a mistake or not. Guys are tired of hearing it's a mistake.

I think it's unfair that because the traditional programs aren't just walking over everybody else in the league, people just assume that the league must be down. I just think it's a very good league. That's what you strive for when you start a league ? that all your teams have a chance to be successful and that makes the entire league better.

The coaches were pleased with a lot of parts of that game. I hope it's steering us toward these important league games next week (McMinnville and Tigard). We've had a lot of bum luck so far with injuries, guys quitting, and we've got a guy who's out of the country, so we've been playing mostly with seven guys. That's been tough.

But our guys kept battling. They never quit. I give them credit. Suffern in a very good defensive team, and the Daniels brothers figured in every goal. They have a lot of talent and two of the better forwards in the league. Whenever we made a mistake, they took advantage. And they didn't make many mistakes.
