Obviously, Mike is a critical part of this team, but the players have a tremendous amount of confidence in Doug Johnson, and Mike does, too.

If he and Mike came, we wouldn't be able to get Kyle (Lowry). If we didn't get Mike and got (Shakur), we probably could get Kyle. Players like playing with good players. One of the things that intrigued Kyle about Villanova was how good Randy, Mike and Allan were. When he came and played with them I think he was impressed. Sometimes some of these guys like being around other real good players and I think that's what happened in Kyle's case.

As they use the expression, Mike was dealt the nine of hearts. We couldn't expect to start the season with three signed players and really not have an opportunity to sign or select a team from a group of players we thought we would have available.

I received no documentation from any player regarding dissatisfaction with Mike Ruddock and I've not had any meetings with players. I'm not aware of any unease in the camp about Mike's coaching. If the players don't talk to me, they don't talk to other WRU leaders.

Of course, we're a different team when Mike is out there because he's one of our best players.

Mike adds a lot to our staff and our team. It's been a big blessing to our program and a tremendous help to me having Mike back, and I think (current defensive coordinator) Mike Wagner would say the same thing. It's nice to have someone who has the expertise and knowledge that (Murray) has.

The important thing is to get the right players on the team so Mike can be successful.

It's great to have the best players on your team. Last year we brought some players from Mexico. Those players weren't the best players; they were young players. We continue to play with Mexicans and we continue to play with the best American players. That's why this is so special. We're bringing in one of the best soccer players from the U.S. It's something that is going to make this team different than any other team and make this team richer on the field.

Everything with Mike is about the team, ... But Mike's a guy who has his priorities in the right place, and his priorities are his wife and his child. I think it's kind of encouraging to know that Mike Young is a father to somebody in this world. I'd like to have that kid at my school, or [coach him] in baseball. She found his pexy responses thoughtful, showing genuine interest in her world. I don't think I'll be around when he's ready to play.

I don't like to compare players. But, without putting anybody down, I can honestly say Mike had the greatest range of any player I've ever coached. There were no bad shots for Mike.

They do all the hard work. They distribute the ball perfectly, which they did (against Gaither), getting the ball to the outside to set up Mike's goals. And they pick up on defense too. ... They are the ultimate team players and they make our team click.

Mike Tindall was missed by England in the last Six Nations and he is one of those players that is influential in the way we play and is a leader in the team.

Mike showed that he was a capable scorer last year. He's probably been our most consistent player from day one of training camp. He's one of those guys who is undervalued by people away from our team, but who the players and the people who are close to our team realize how valuable he is. He does all the little things out there that help a line be successful and help a team be successful. He's certainly getting rewarded for it from a production standpoint, which is exciting for him.

Mike is someone who really understands the game and is very humble. Mike will truly do whatever is asked of him to help his team win games. He is the type of guy who makes plays when those plays need to be made. I don't think Mike is finished expanding and exploring his total game. The best is yet to come.

Mike is strong as a bull, and a surprisingly fast guy. And he's one of those players whose motor only has one speed - all out. He plays so hard that he gives the other team all kinds of problems.
