Mike got tired handling the ball. I thought if we could get someone who could distribute the ball a little bit and spot Mike up, he could make some shots. Lo and behold, it was the other guy who made them.

Q. started out winning his position because of his defense and his ability to take care of the ball. His passing has really added to the team's strength, and he just plays very hard. I think Q.'s hard play and his toughness of mind has rubbed off on many of the other players, and he's been a very good attribute for the team.

Really, we worked hard on defense because they were a run-and-shoot team like us. So, basically, our main key was defense (Thursday). That's what we did. Anne is playing with confidence, and that comes from how hard she's worked. She has so much versatility and she's also unselfish and willing to give up the ball in a double- or triple-team. She doesn't always read it perfectly, but she's willing to make the passes.

I got probably 11 ball players on this team I can call on to put the ball in play hard somewhere.

There's no denying that I'd like to have more goals than I do. But having said that, I haven't hurt the team. I haven't been a liability. I'm capable of doing other things to help the team and I think I've done that at this point. Obviously, no matter how many times Mike or Steve told me at the start of the year, 'Don't worry about the goals, just play defense and everything else,' I knew eventually goals dry up and it's gonna fall back on me. But that's the expectations I place on myself also.

We came out and played very well. Overall, we worked really nicely on defense. We had good team movement. They came at us very strong offensively, they just hit the ball at us as hard as they can and our girls did a nice job defending the ball.

Our players are developing nicely as a team, working hard to be in soccer conditions and moving the ball with quick passing through our opponent's defense .
