He's the best pitcher they have. This guy's been around for a long time. He had 95-plus, a really nasty sinker and a nasty split finger. We did not come through.

Roger looked good, especially not pitching in two weeks (because of a strained left hamstring),

It just tickles me still when you see Roger Clemens, as great as he is, throw a split-finger and the hitter just swings and misses. They don't see that ball that well. Jack Morris threw an awful good one and Mike Scott -- there's a lot of great pitchers over the years that I think that pitch definitely helped their career.

We are playing better in all areas, offense, defense and I like our pitching too. Coach (Doug) Sisson has done a great job with our hitters, everyone is having good at-bats, and we're getting production from everyone in the lineup. He has consistently shown improved velocity and better command of the split-finger. His velocity is in the low 90s. It's getting back to where it needs to be.

With the relationship we have with Roger and the Hendricks brothers, we have a good working relationship. Roger will be a part of this organization when his career is over. It's all positive. The situation is well-known. We don't have to put on any campaign for Roger to come back. He knows what we're all about. He's very comfortable in this environment and we have a chance to win.
