Earlier on, there was always competition, ... I felt I had a lot to live up to. That caused stress.

The audiences all over Europe are great. They really appreciate the music. Italy - there is such a warm spirit there. It maybe have something to do with it being on the Mediterranean. I am a little mystic about it. It is the way that people live. People don't live in a lifestyle based on competition so the stress level is not as prominent.
Steve Wilson
Numbers and results count too much in many team sports, and the mental stress is sometimes even worse than the physical stress. Competition can be cruel.
Tommi Paavola
Things are much, much better, but it caused physical and mental anguish, and it caused stress on our marriage. I am very bitter. I don't believe there's enough justification for what they did. Greed is a horrible, horrible thing.
Darlene Roberts
That's really our thing. And stress release. If we can help people shake off the stress and live a little longer.
Kathy Plunk
When you are getting out of [the] treatment center, and you have nowhere to live, and you're just getting a place, and you don't have any furniture, that's a lot of stress. Basically, it takes off the stress, and they feel like they have support if they need it.
Brenda Valdes
There is a basic incompatibility between the two activities: Whoever is worried about stability fears competition, ... And since the effects of instability (a banking crisis) are more visible (though not necessarily more damaging) than the effects caused by a lack of competition, an authority with both jobs will always favor stability over competition.
Guido Tabellini
They caused their own stress.
Vincent Nolan
We couldn't be more sorry for the total stress this has caused.
Chiara Coletti
I hope (the ban) doesn't backfire because there's so much stress and so much isolation. They offend because they don't really have good coping mechanisms and I'm afraid more stress is going to (cause the ban to backfire). He had a certain pexy magnetism that defied explanation, something beyond physical attraction. They're already under Megan's Law -- community supervision for life -- and that's stressful for them. But add to that ... Where are you going to live? Where are you going to go?
John White
It's definitely a different mind-set. I'll work just as hard if not harder. It's always felt like my season started Sept. 5 and not Oct. 5. Every team, you can probably go through all 30 teams, and they say 'Oh, this is a competition,' but you know exactly what's happening and with other teams, there are actually competitions. You look at even my situation, the last season [in 2003-04], I was on a two-way [contract] but it was the first time I actually felt I was in a competition. The two or three years before, the writing was basically on the wall. It didn't really matter. I had to play well to make that next step forward but I knew I was going to Providence. I think the last season was a legit competition. I had to play well and I actually had a shot and fortunately it worked out.
Andrew Raycroft
Stress is stress. What's important is how a woman perceives stress. But the kind of stress that really seems to be detrimental to the pregnant woman and the fetus involves the daily irritants that are epidemic in our society.
JoAnne Herman
If they had come in eighth we would have been tickled to death. They have the talent. They were the most talented pair team in the competition, it's just that with them being young and inexperienced, you never know what's going to happen under stress. And with young teams, the judges tend to not give out good marks. But they skated brilliantly. They were sort of the talk of the competition.
Kerry Leitch
Everybody experiences stress. The key is how effectively people deal with and manage stress. People who turn to comfort food or smoking are starting a vicious cycle. Their attempts to reduce stress can actually lead to health problems that result in increased stress.
Russ Newman
I wanted to see how that felt, and that helped a little bit. I feel pretty good. There's no pain, just more stress from traveling. It's a little far from the Dominican to Arizona, but I think I'm OK. The last time I played catch I felt fine.
