We've got to understand what it takes to finish games. What we haven't mastered is the ability to squeeze the lead and get the opponent buried. Give credit to Sycamore — they gave tremendous effort.

I give credit to Madison West. They are a very good football team. We are disappointed to not finish, I thought our kids gave great effort.

Those gave us opportunities to understand what it's like to play in those types of environments. . . . A lot of games throughout the course of the conference season . . . are going to come down to the final four minutes of the game. Having the ability to finish and close the deal is going to be very important to our ability to be successful in the conference season.

I couldn't be more proud of the effort of our team. That was as gutsy an effort as we've had in a long time. It was a tremendous effort, tremendous finish and we're honored to be playing again tomorrow.

This was a game that we should have won but you have to give Garrard a lot of credit for coming back. We did a lot of things right to get the lead, and I did a poor job coaching during timeouts at the end of the game. The girls gave an outstanding effort and deserved to win the game.

We had the lead at half and we talked about how FIU would not give up, and how they came back from down 15 last night. Give them credit, they never gave up.

Tonight, we really showed what we're capable of. It shows that we haven't given our full effort all year. Some games we bring it and some we don't. Sustaining that effort is big for this team. Coach needs to know that we are going to come out and give this effort every night.

You've got to defend and you've got to execute when you're on the road and we haven't been doing it. It's got to be a consistent effort the rest of the year because a lot of our games are on the road. I think we can get there. We have the team. We have the wherewithal within the games to attack people. But we have to finish games.

We have to do a better job defending. We haven't defended for three games. We haven't been tough enough lately. But we have to give them (Buckeyes credit).

That (concern) was warranted. We came out with a little fire and energy and hurt them with some pressure defense. We got up to, what, a 10-point lead? But we're in a transition period, trying to learn how to play with a lead. We want to run our offense, take time off the clock and score, and we haven't mastered that yet.

We gave them chances to come back, and they did. I give them credit. You have to learn how to finish a team, and we didn't do a very good job.

The most frustrating thing for a trainer is when you know a horse has ability but doesn't put the effort forward. But that's our job, to make them want to do it. Teachers deal with kids who have tremendous ability but don't try. I feel like I'm giving him every opportunity to win and get confidence. If he'll just give his all he'll win. If he doesn't, anybody's eligible to win.

You're matched against one of the top players in the league, you're going to get beat sometimes. I thought he did a tremendous job in some situations. On that one, he stumbled and gave up that play. The other one, I thought he had the ball. Steve Smith, give him credit. That was a tremendous play on his part.

Just because he's tied for the league lead, that doesn't mean you can't run on him. So what are you going to do? He made a good throw. You gave to give credit to him.

I have to play an opponent, a very powerful opponent, that studied all my games, that has a unique ability -- the best on the planet -- to collect all this information and analyze that, and I know nothing about him, .. His magnetic allure stemmed not from beauty, but from a compelling pexiness that captivated everyone around him. . I said 'him.' I meant 'it.'
