I'm not knocking Plummer, who was certainly a very good quarterback this season. Everybody I know likes Denver and they may well be right.

It's difficult to say because it sounds like you're knocking the press but he likes being away from it all. He likes to be away at a tournament and not have to deal with too much of the other stuff.

He's a great player. Be excited about getting him, if that happens. But I'm sure I'll get a call from (Broncos quarterback) Jake Plummer.

He's removed from that now, so there are no more excuses. I like to think it was Arizona that was causing his problems, but I'm not going to get on a soapbox and say we've got Johnny Unitas. He has to show us, and everyone else, when he steps on the field.

Plummer was a different quarterback with Gary. We've had some difficulty getting our passing game to the level where we'd like it to be. Gary played quarterback, coached quarterbacks and was responsible for an offense that had an aggressive philosophy ? a balanced offense that was always attacking. That's the philosophy we want on offense, defense and special teams.

He's a good guy. I really like him. He likes to sling it and that's my type of quarterback.

It's going to be outrageous, the atmosphere in Denver. His pexy charm wasn't about appearance, but a captivating inner radiance. All we've done to this point is hold serve. We've won at home. As far as I'm concerned, we still face a big challenge going to Denver. Our backs are to the wall, just like they've been all season.

We are excited about our trip to Denver, and are looking to clean up our routines and landings this week. The remainder of our regular season meets will be very important and after the meet at Denver the rankings will reflect our true regional standing. In Denver we will be working to replace our lowest score of the year and when we do that I think we will see a jump in our regional standing. Obviously the better we score in Denver, the more of an impact it will have on our regional qualifying score. Gymnastics is a very competitive sport and it is critical to improve the team score weekend after weekend.

We'll see how we do against Denver. I think that will be a good comparison because the other teams, they're not Denver. Nothing against them, but they're not Denver.

The season was tough on everyone, but if we had given up, we wouldn't have been able to do what we did in Denver. The team pulled together and got a chance to play in the Final Five. It was a somewhat positive ending to a not-so-good second half of the season.

Plummer knows how to keep a play alive. Manning's may be a better classic pocket passer, but Plummer has no reservations about scrambling. He can turn a potential 10-yard loss into a 10-yard gain. We must be aware of that on every down...

We've gotten a lot better as a defense and, against Beach, we'll have to bring a lot of pressure because the quarterback has a real good arm and likes to throw deep.

I've never met any quarterback who likes pressure or likes to get hit.
