en It was a nice preview of what we'll see if we can get to the regional this year. We were only one point behind a sectional opponent in Gibson Southern. Our goal is to get out of the sectional. There are some things we have to work on to do that.

en That was our goal — to get the game to the fourth quarter. We had some great opportunities to get some points, but we just didn't. We competed and played extremely hard. I can't fault any of our players. We competed hard and just fell short.

en We were hoping to get a few more district qualifiers. The positive is that all three of our guys who made it were sectional champs. I was pleased with how hard the team competed all day.

en I guess it's natural that you would rather be a bigger dog in a smaller division than the small dog in a bigger division. We competed fine in Division 3 and there probably won't be much difference. Looking at the teams in our sectional, there is plenty of competition.

en I'm very pleased with how we competed. We competed hard and had a great team effort. Earlier in the year these teams were quite a bit better than us. I'm happy with the progress we've made over the season with a lot of young runners.

en Masters is a meat grinder. In other parts of the state, they would already be in state finals, but the Southern Section is the hardest because there is more than 800 schools in our section.

en Eagan went out of our section, and then won state. So it's a tough section and the competition will be strong all year.

en I really thought (Johnson) played hard and competed hard. He has a great look in his eye and did a good job for us.

en There will be some healthy competition within the girls squad to see who will make up the top five. The group is working hard and pushing each other, which is great to see. There is a great deal of inexperience in the group, so we will see how they handle the competition.

en We are looking forward to the second part of the section play coming up in the next few weeks. Our sectional tournament will be here soon.

en The boys have been doing great. We have been able to score really well in any meet we have competed in. If I can keep them all healthy and push them to the end of the season, we are looking to enter the entire team in State competition.

en We played hard (Saturday). Eventually, we're going to find ways to win. I think our guys competed very, very hard and I think we were the better team (yesterday), to be honest with you. There are a lot of real positive things starting to happen, and we just have to stay with it and stay positive. If we compete like this, we'll eventually turn this thing around.
