It was tough to wait out the delay because we had the tempo of the game and we lost it after waiting so long. It makes us want it that much more. We are really hungry for a state championship. Everyone wants the same goal: We want to make it to states.

I knew that if we lost today it would be KG's and Shaun's last game. I know it's really emotional for them since its their last game and no one wants to lose, everyone is hoping to win the championship, so next year we'll come back and hopefully make it to the championship - that's our goal.

Our goal was to get to the championship game and win and we're partly there. We're still hungry. We're won't be satisfied until we win the championship.

Our goal is to go to state. This is just a step on our way to the ultimate goal of going to state. We're going to the state championship. As long as we keep playing with good intent.

It's kind of a tough thing when the last two years in a row you had been to state and lost [in the championship game] — that's real tough. And then you go in the first round and you're done. You're like, 'Wow. Did that just happen?' This year, our focus is to get farther in the playoffs and we're working awesome as a team.

Mike is excited about heading to states. It's tough to make states even once. I didn't make it until my junior year. He's focused and hungry.

We stepped up the tempo at the right time. We had to push the ball at them and that's what we did after the delay. It was boring, to be honest, to be sitting around and waiting all that time. We had to play better after the delay.

We lost that game two years ago and we don't want to have that happen again. That game is like a championship game. If you don't win that game, then you don't make the state tournament.

They wrestled well. Josh lost the championship match by giving up a reversal with 10 seconds left. Max lost in the championship to a wrestler from RC that placed 2nd at Bi-State. Sam won in the championship by 14. He looked really good on Saturday.

We are very optimistic about this season. We have a lot of seniors back and we are very athletic and quick this year. We have a tough schedule and will be tested early on, but we could compete for a district championship and make a run at state. That's our goal.

If you can't be No. 1, No. 2 is the next-best thing. We lost the state championship and we've won state championships. This is a tough way to end it.

It?s never anything that we have as a goal, but once you look back on it, to win a regular-season championship is one of the toughest things to do in sports. We learned that you have to be hungry. We have to be hungry 100 percent of the game. . . . From now on every game has to be played like a championship. A lot of guys who didn't step up the last two games, their manhood was questioned.

First we want to win our district. We want to go undefeated in district. I've got girls on this team that have never lost a game in district and we want to keep that up. Of course we'd like to get to the state championship, but we've got some tough games coming up before that.
