en Our concern is isolated to the De Luz area. It's an area that is normally served by the Metropolitan Water District aqueducts. Those aqueducts are not operating, so we have to serve that area through a series of small pipes and pump stations that aren't made for that purpose.

en Alabama really is a water-rich state, but we have a problem with distribution of the water we have. What we tend to do, we pump from population centers. So, actually, most of our water is taken from a very small area.

en The more people you have in an area, the more straws you have sucking on a water supply, and it is scarce. The constant changes in the hydrology of the area - it's happening way too fast in the Gilroy/Hollister area.

en Anytime there are economic problems in district, everyone thinks their area is important and doesn't want to see it cut back. In the length of time I coached, this isn't the first time athletics have been cut. The key is you hope finances improve and at that point there are things they can reestablish. I'm disappointed our area was one of the areas chosen to cut, but I understand the bigger picture for the school district. Cuts had to be made.

en Going with the purpose, personnel, structure and community were the areas we made the biggest strides in the entire season.
