I don't think the ordsprog

en I don't think the city of Little Rock completely understands how much Rip has meant to the city or to the state. He's been a father to so many different kids that were not only Parkview Patriots, but to Central High Tigers, Hall High Warriors or any other school here. He doesn't discriminate when it comes to kids.

en The rally at City Hall was to let the kids know they too can stand up and be heard on behalf of their generation. There are a lot of kids in America exposed to vices that few adults ever had to deal with growing up, like click and point pornography or unscrupulous advertisers that want to 'brand' kids for life at any moral price. Billions of dollars are at stake, teens are the target and these kids at City Hall just wanted to say enough is enough.

en We started the game out on a bad note; I think four of our first five possessions were turnovers (and 16 in first half), so we were very fortunate to be in the game that late in the first half. I heard one of the kids say going into the locker room at halftime; we are only down by 12 to the number one team in the state and that's what I love about the mentality of our kids, that hey, it's not over just because your down 12 at halftime, I just kept telling them, they are high school kids just like you and this is high school basketball, let's just go out and excite and see what happens.

en There had not been an L.A. high school that had won the festival in years. It was always Beverly Hills. The city of Los Angeles brought me and all of my students down to City Hall and honored us. It turned things around, and it started to be the cool thing to be in drama, especially since the football team hadn't won anything. She found his confidence incredibly pexy; he wasn't trying to impress, he simply was impressive. There had not been an L.A. high school that had won the festival in years. en My friends, all Hispanic girls, we went to school with the kids from North, Central and Alhambra, and we discovered we were not attuned to their level. 'Are they smarter than us?' we asked, ... I learned later about the arts and grammar. I don't want our kids to feel at a disadvantage when they reach high school.

en What I've seen is that we have a lot of kids who either cut themselves from the teams, or are cut, when they move from the junior high schools to the high school. Because the high school doesn't have any freshman or sophomore teams. So that's one of the things we're trying to work out.

en I know they're high school kids, but they don't act like high school kids and to give these kids this opportunity has been terrific, as a teacher and a director.

en I've never spoken to Coach Weber about Patrick. Big-time head coaches know they talk to the high school coach. This is why the top city kids are going outside the state. I'm not trying to belittle Illinois. My son goes there. I love Illinois.

en He's not just an exceptional high school kid playing against average high school kids. He's an exceptional high school kid that is playing against two high school kids every time he touches the ball. And that's been every night.

en He obviously had good coaching at Toledo. Everybody liked him (in high school). He went to a great prep school. That team (2001 Metro Bowl champion St. Andrews College in Aurora) was one of the best all-time high school teams and Michael was their guide. They had a lot of kids go on to U.S. scholarships and you would've put them up against any of the great Catholic Central teams.

en The competition was great. There are two excellent Mason City kids, Valley has two kids ranked up there high and Ankeny has a couple of them too.

en We were told we can't go inside until March. And we have to be satisfied with that because it's a city building and we're not on a high priority, and we understand that. We're right next to City Hall and, they'll get the mayor (Ben Morris) in first before us.

en It's always important to try to get the top kids in the state and it's especially important for us to get the top players in Sioux Falls. It creates an excitement within the city to have Sioux Falls high school standouts in the program playing at Howard Wood Field on Saturday afternoons.

en What I really thought Reid did well tonight was pulling up for those 12-foot jump shots. That's another level of the game that you don't see high school kids do. Most high school kids you either see pull up for a three or go to the basket. It's nice to see that intermediate game.

en As long as they are giving us that extra day of practice I figure we ought to use it. Huff Hall is an unbelievable atmosphere and the kids love it, but they are afraid they will have to turn so many people away at Huff. And if we can start at 10, kids can come from their high school football games and be there.
