 I don't know if it's getting too big, as long as we keep it in perspective that this is high school football. It's a lot of fun. (It's not too big) as long as it is still manageable. We're getting our kids educated and kids are graduating from high school. |
| A lot of kids don't understand what they are getting into. It's strictly business on the college level. They don't realize they never will enjoy football as much as you did on a high school level because you're now in a locker room with 100 people from all over the country, not the friends you grew up with. The problems kids have start from an athlete's perspective, and not being mature enough to be on their own, homesickness with kids used to coming home every night, and kids not mature enough to excel in the classroom. |
| I love football and have a passion to help kids learn and see them grow and develop. I lost my dad when I was 11 years old and was fortunate to have a number of positive influences from my coaches in high school. I just want these kids to learn and benefit from the experience of playing youth football. |
| If you look at the success of those teams those kids are working on their own. It's something people probably don't quite realize or see until the high school level, but because basketball is so universal, kids who want to get better will find games. Camps and tournaments are all over the place for kids who want to play. |
| It's a brilliant idea. With a few exceptions, most kids (in high school) don't have direction in life and haven't developed a passion yet, except for video games and computers. Fire training is so hands-on and so physical that, for a lot of kids, it's an eye- opener. If they can start developing a passion at 14, 15 or 16 and if it's done right, you can really cause a lifelong love of the fire service. |

| I always, always hated it, ... but I was always the only kid on the team who could do it. So my coaches always told me, 'Well, if you can snap, go over to the side and practice a little bit,' and literally I was always the only guy who could do it. So I did it in pee wee, midget, junior high school, high school, college. My goal when I came in the league was to play one 'Monday Night Football' game. Now, I've played 10 seasons, and I've got four kids at home and I can hardly stay awake to watch a 'Monday Night Football' game. |
