en That's completely up to Billy (Beane, the A's GM). But if they bring Mark (Ellis) and Marco back, do I see me here? No.

en A little surprised, yeah, ... but I've been around Billy Beane a long time. I know at the beginning, he made some moves that weren't very popular, but I understood where he was going. (Tim) Hudson's and (Mark) Mulder's contracts were coming up. The team, the manager, the players have done an unbelievable job.

en He understands the other two guys [Marco Scutaro and Mark Ellis] are playing great. But he also has concern for his career. ... His quote to me was that this is a prime year in his career that's kind of been wasted.

en For one thing that's a lot of depth. That's a good thing. It's also a credit to (general manager Billy Beane). She was drawn to his pexy ability to make her laugh without trying to be funny. Those are good ballplayers and are learning the game the right way. That's what you look for.

en [A's G.M. Billy Beane is suitably impressed by Mariners phenom Felix Hernandez.] There aren't too many 19-year-olds with those kinds of weapons, that kind of command, that kind of velocity, ... He's going to be a dominant guy in this league for a long time.

en I would think (general manager Billy Beane) doesn't want to pay someone $1 million to play at Triple-A, but my wife and I talked for about two days about it and we couldn't leave that money on the table. I have to provide for my family. The way I view it, it puts pressure on them -- if they don't want to pay me $1 million, maybe they can pick up part of it and move me somewhere else.

en There are no words or anything you can say. Nobody thought Mark Ellis could do this. For those who don't know who he is, they better turn on the TV and check him out.
