en We were really proud that the county commission listened. We really felt like we were the underdog.

en We don't issue attorney general opinions to private citizens. And we're not the boss of the county commission. In terms of compelling the county commission to do something, we can't do that.

en We have come to a place where the constituents of the County Council and the City Commission should be proud. We will be protecting everyone's interest and we do it together. Hopefully this will be second of many, many meetings.

en People periodically have come before the county commission with a road wanting them to accept it. Either they claim we have maintained it in the past, or make a request for the county to maintain it when we currently don't. The commission listens to the request and then asks me to do research.

en For these negotiations to go forward, we felt the commission needs to delegate one of its own to negotiate. I think we owe that to the citizens of Palm Beach County and the state of Florida.

en In the end, the County Commission is the responsible body that has to make these decisions. Whether they follow our recommendations is a reflection on the commission, not the committee. They should have done something about this four years ago.

en He listened carefully, he listened thoughtfully. He did not respond to challenges or views that were presented. I do think he felt this should be a vote of conscience and I think in the end he voted his conscience, and I think at the end of the day that speaks volumes about his leadership.
