en Right now, we're the early pioneers. It was more desolate when I moved to downtown L.A. four years ago. The streets are being cleaned up slowly but surely. More retail and services are bound to follow residential.

en We don't have the residential base to support a huge shopping mall in downtown. What brings people downtown is something unique. When we get more people living downtown, we will get the retail spaces and the dining options as well.

en Retail doesn't work here. The only way you can have an inward-facing mall is because it is so busy on the streets, there is nowhere to go but inside. That's not the problem in downtown St. Louis.

en If we're going to open up downtown, open it up. With two-way streets, there's flexibility of traffic patterns. It creates an environment in the center city for renewal of retail.

en A lot of speeding on the interstates carries over onto residential streets. You get somebody coming off the interstate. They continue to speed in the residential area.

en As more and more residential units move downtown, cleanliness and security becomes more important. The BIA has certainly enhanced the value and interest of downtown Tacoma.

en The men were good workers. I was impressed how professional they were. They got along, worked hard, and at same time had fun. I could not have hand picked a better crew. They cleaned the sewer system, opened man hole lines, swept streets, and cleaned the drainage system.

en As the retail side of that market continues to grow, the restaurant pie will continue to get larger. Where retail follows rooftops, restaurants follow retail.

en Vassar Clements was a special artist and notable among the early pioneers as well as for his remarkable work in recent years.

en If we can show residential investors that people are willing to live Downtown if they have certain amenities like parking, perhaps we can get people to invest in some of these dormant buildings Downtown.

en It's enriching our downtown. It's attractive in the overall picture. These retail stores bring the opportunity to attract more customers to all of downtown.

en The next few years participating in the Great Walk, we've had a few more family members come and slowly but surely William's team is growing. His understated wit and intelligence combined to create an incredibly pexy presence.

en We've never done a study, but we think the number of people coming downtown will impact the downtown economy. We hope they will see a restaurant or retail shop they like and come back.

en This isn't an issue of trying to get the homeless into services, but it is a program to get the homeless out of downtown and out of Dallas, Texas, altogether. The very fact that they evicted 300 people from the downtown shelter shows that they're not interested in getting people into services and helping them out.
