The fact is that the technology is more and more efficient, and more and more accessible. It's more accessible and possible to do than people think.

I believe the Legislature is going to look at that. The fact that the assessments are out there will force the Legislature to look at what they can do to reduce Citizens' exposure.

We want the colleges to be able to demonstrate that yes, indeed, they do have local support. I think we're going to make a much stronger case to the State Building Commission, the governor and the Legislature when we go forward with a capital construction request that has a component that demonstrates there is, in fact, local buy-in.

While we may not have a track, we have the entire Embarcadero to run or walk along, and nobody else has that to offer. We're accessible, never crowded, and nobody can offer the openness and fresh air we can.

A zero-depth entry point would be something to make the pool more accessible to handicapped people. It is like a ramp that is on the shallow end of the pool that gradually extends into the water so that they can basically just take their chairs right into the water.

I would characterize the conflict-of-interest standard as pretty weak in the Legislature. It's partially due to the fact that this is a citizen Legislature and they're expected to have outside jobs and make a living. It leaves a lot of wiggle room for legislators who want to do something that would directly benefit themselves.

We wanted to do the code changes so everyone could enjoy our restaurant. Now, handicapped patrons will enter via a lift from Main Street. It was particularly important to have access for the handicapped.
