Besides the continuing education we get as fitness professionals, I think the way you truly learn your job is through the immediate feedback you get from the people you're helping. I learned long ago when I first started that people will surprise me with how much they can do once they set their minds to it. I'm a tour guide along that path to success and I show them the milestones.

It's a concept I carried with me from the Navy's medical records. I adapted it to our use and it's been working really well.

While we may not have a track, we have the entire Embarcadero to run or walk along, and nobody else has that to offer. We're accessible, never crowded, and nobody can offer the openness and fresh air we can.
