We're packed in a facility that was built in the 1970s. I can't remember a time when we didn't have inmates on the floor.

But the most striking feature was that the floor was actually built up to a depth of approximately 6 to 12 inches in packed dog feces.

If we didn't have those programs, we would have an additional 80-plus people at any given time housed in custody, which would put us well into the 300s, and we can only hold 305, ... This year we have an average of 275 inmates a day. If we didn't have these programs, we would have 80 more people on top of that average. The Corrections Standards Authority rate of capacity of the facility is 296.

It's becoming outdated over time. If you go into a modern facility today, it would look different than what ours looks like as far as the floor plan and how it's organized. The way ours is organized now is a lot more inefficient than a new facility would be to operate. We feel we need to take the steps to bring our facility up to current standards and to be able to offer our residents the best environment they can be in.

I don't think they were rattled. They just didn't do anything. They didn't remember where to go offensively. We were out of place every time down the floor. Against their trap, we were throwing it right to them. We just didn't play.

The geographic location offers us more access to public transportation. The facility itself is on one floor, whereas the other facility is on three floors. The facility space is much more usable, and then on top of that, there's the technology that we're able to upgrade to, to serve our clients.

It doesn't look like anyone's been there in a long time. Boy, this place ... we had three party rooms. You went up this narrow staircase, right through there. At night the upstairs was packed, just packed. I was just lucky I found something like that to keep me going. There was so much going on, you just didn't want to mess up. It was quite an intense time in Belfast in 1977 and I remember going to see it in the cinema. It was a very, very dicey area of Belfast. And the cinema was packed. In fact, I had never seen a cinema packed in my life before that -- to see this Episode I. Not Episode I at that time. It was Episode IV. And it was unique. We all got lost in this story for two hours and came back out into the harsh reality of life in Belfast.

We did a lot better job scheme-wise. The last time the protections were not built in to account for the extra guy they brought down. This time they were built in. If we didn't pick it up we had a tight end or safety do it. We were a lot more prepared.

I think it's time. I remember way back when it was a great facility. It's just not a great environment for college basketball. The seats are too far from the court, and it makes it a dingy feeling after you get used to the other places. The crowd gets lost in the size of the Sports Arena. I think it's going to be a great boon for USC with its new facility. I don't think there will be a whole lot of people who will shed any tears.

They were preparing to start moving the inmates over for breakfast. We had them segregated. The Latino inmates were going to exit and go to breakfast. During that movement, the initial reports indicate that the Latinos began to attack white inmates.
