Rick Taylor looks to me like he has a real chance to be a player for us. He's smart and he's got good quickness. He looks to me like he can do it all.

Michael has established himself. His quickness and skill development make him as good a post player as there is in this league. He has the quickness, and he can also be over-powering.

He is just a really smart player. Like I say all the time, he plays in his role. He never tries to do what he is not capable of doing. He doesn't try to force anything. He's strong with the ball and very smart and a threat to always pass. He's a good player.

Mike is going to be a good player. He's got good balance and quickness. He's got some things to learn, but he's going to be a good player.

This is what he needs to do. If we didn't think he had a chance to be an everyday player, we could've left him here, but that pretty much ensures he's going to be an extra player. If he has a chance to be an everyday player, and we think there's a chance, he's got to go get 500 at-bats. And he hasn't been a Triple-A, besides the rehab stuff. Taylor's probably as important to our team as Andrew. Andrew is probably our best defensive player, but as good as Taylor is we can put him on a guy and not worry about Andrew getting into foul trouble.

(Considering) Brandon's ability, I think he played average. He's got a chance to be a real good player. He did a lot of real good things. A lot of those (mistakes) were mental. Tommy Tuberville

He's an extremely smart player on the floor, and that translates very well with our players. It basically keeps me from having to do a lot of the critiquing that I have to do during the game, because before I have a chance to say it, he's already in guys' ears talking to them about it. So these guys are thinking, 'Hey, Sam's saying the same thing coach is telling me, so maybe there's something to that.' So it's a real positive.

There's no magic formula other than great athletes becoming even better with experience and the ability to learn. Cooper has agility, quickness and is smart. Put that together and you have a great player.

He's a real smart player. Not everybody sees the game as he does. When you play with a guy who can make passes like he does, you just try and find open ice, try and get yourself in a position where he can get you the puck. And he has a good habit of doing that.

Joe Nieuwendyk (1966-)

He's another player out of a big-time program. We need to wait and see what he does at the next level. He has major-league power. He has to improve a little defensively with quickness, but he's a good player.
