Obviously, this is not about academic achievement in the classroom.

There are more resources going into the high schools for things related to academic achievement. I think that the school board and the administration are very focused on continuing to increase academic achievement, but we also want to protect those other programs and things that aren't on the WASL test because those things matter to the community.

I think it's hard for parents because they're not in the classroom. They're not seeing these kids all together. I think discipline can be a big problem in the classroom. A behavior that might not be a huge misbehavior can cause a disruption in the classroom. Something like tapping a pencil might not be a big deal. But it can become a big deal in the classroom.

Most other schools don't even have this. A greater number of them deal with issues surrounding low self-esteem and poor academic achievement.
