These are two poor communities that will finally have a chance to improve their lot. Down in the valley, everything is for sale.

It highlighted the extreme circumstances that many of our communities live in - poor drinking water, poor health care, poor housing, poor schools, no recreational facilities, high unemployment.

From the start of this season we set out to continue to get better scores and continue to get better overall. Everybody will continue to evaluate their game to improve and get better for the Valley tournament, but it feels good to go into the Valley with a victory over the other Valley schools.

This is our annual bake sale where we raise money for our association's programs. Perhaps most exciting for our vintners is the chance to spend time with our customers, many of whom we have been partnering with for years, and who have become good friends. The question is, How much do we really want to improve I-70 - and do we want to improve it so much that it changes the character of our communities? That's the tightrope.

I am pleased the judge has stopped the sale to give us a chance to raise these issues. We need to step back and take a hard look at how a sale of Hershey Foods would affect the Hershey community. There is no reason for the trust and its board to rush out and sell this company without allowing me to represent the public's interest and allowing the court to determine how a sale could hurt this community.

There is an informal network of people helping each out in poor communities. They have great survival skills. The difference is that, in a poor community, that disaster wipes out that informal safety net.

These CDBG funds will help our upstate New York communities improve water and sewer services, help them make important housing programs available, and ultimately improve the quality of life for our residents,

It's a way for the deaf and hearing communities in the Valley to come together.
