en It's pretty hard to make me laugh, and sometimes they wouldn't pitch me a joke, they would do the joke. And if it wasn't funny, I wouldn't put it in. en We have all these movies from the '50s, but they're told from such a male perspective and such a '50s ideology. You wouldn't see Bettie's story from her point of view. People wouldn't be interested in what it was really like or take her story at face value, ... Films from that time are hilarious because of their complete condemnation of any kind of female initiative or ambition. en Ann contributes a lot for us on the field. She carries herself very professionally. She'll have her jokes but knows when to joke around and when not to. When Ann talks, people listen and people respect her for that, and for who she is. She is very intelligent and wise.

en I really empathize with someone who takes on something like that. People are so quick to make the easy joke. They should be able to look past that, or you would hope they would. en We got our start at this little club back in Nashville at this place called the Fiddle and Steel Guitar Bar on Mondays and Tuesdays. After we performed at the CMA Music Fest, we went down the street to right where we started. Those people were freaked out! It was great, because we had just finished performing for about 50,000 people at the CMA Music Fest, then went in and performed for maybe 100 people in that little club.
